In our time all over the world the air is polluted with harmful substances. Unfortunately, the man himself creates his that his kills. For example, car exhaust gases contain lead and other harmful materials. Large quantities of these substances are deposited on the ground near freeways and highways. You cannot collect mushrooms, useful herbs, berries less than 100 m. from the road, because all plants absorb toxic substances. In the cities the air is very heavily polluting emissions of industrial enterprises. There are norms of maximum permissible concentrations of substances in the air. There are four environment of life, without which there can be no man: air, water, soil and the surrounding living organisms. The environment directly or indirectly affect the state, development and survival of all living organisms in this environment living. Environmental pollution has recently become an increasingly hot topic, because the acceleration of technical progress, especially in recent decades, increased environmental pollution. Active pollution began about 200 years ago, with the beginning of the scientific-technical revolution in Europe. Especially this effect was evident in England. Factories in this country at that time worked on traditional fuels - coal. Coal dust and soot heavily pollute the air and even influenced the development of evolution. In those parts of Europe where the industry developed very intensively, some species of butterflies over the past 200 years changed its color, in order to adapt to the new conditions of existence. Previously, these butterflies have a more lighter shade and hid from the hunting of birds in the bright bark of trees, but because of the long-term sedimentation of coal dust, the trees were black, and butterflies, to be invisible from the blackened bark, also changed its color, black.

Acid rain causes great harm to the plants, kills beneficial microorganisms in the soil, thereby destroying its fertile layer. Known fact, due to acid rain in Germany killed half of the forests, and in Sweden, for the same reason, four thousand lakes fish extinct. The famous Greek Parthenon temple in the effects of acid rain over the past thirty years has been greater destruction than in the previous two millennia. The emissions group chloroflorocarbons, which contains freon, used in refrigerators and aerosols, destroy the ozone layer that protects the earth from ultraviolet radiation. Harmful ultraviolet radiation from the sun cause human skin cancer, can cause eye diseases, and it has a harmful impact on the marine fauna and flora of the earth. Particularly harmful influence of ultraviolet radiation exposed areas of the Arctic, because there the ozone layer is thinnest.
