Weaknesses? q Change Management • Educating employers to look at the ability and not disability • There is hope after disability • Eary Intervention adoption q Integration of Stakeholders • Commitment and integration by stakeholders to reach common goal • Identifying facilities provided by various agencies to reduce overlap of services/create synergies q Capacity Building • Training of Disability Managers • Quality Rehabilitation Centres q Legal Mandate on Employment Retention • Employment Retention for Workplace Injuries q Increasing Efficiency in Managing Cases • To achieve the international benchmark of 59. 4 days to finalise a case
Lessons learnt • All parties need to be involved (from the worker, family members, employers, co-workers to medical fraternity, allied health services, etc) • Legal Mandate is important • Implementation varies from jurisdiction to jurisdiction • Not a 100 m dash but a “Marathon“ – such programmes take time to establish and deliver visible results
Employment is the best form of social protection! Thank you Roshaimi bin Mat Rosely roshaimi. rosely@perkeso. gov. my
