SECTORAL PROFESSIONS The professions of : • doctor of medicine, • dental practitioner, • nurse responsible for general care, • midwife, • pharmacist, • veterinary surgeon and architect belong to sectoral professions. The recognition of qualifications in these professions is automatic, provided that the applicant has documents attesting qualifications (diplomas, certificates) indicated in annex V or VI to Directive 2005/36/EC or fulfills the conditions for recognition on the basis of acquired rights.
REGULATED PROFESSIONS A regulated profession is a profession which may be practised only by those who have fulfilled qualification requirements and other conditions laid down in separate legislation. Within the European Union, the regulated professions are subject to EU Directives. In Poland it is now more than 380 regulated professions (the highest number in EU)
REGULATED PROFESSIONS The equivalence of a foreign school certificate or higher education diploma may be stated either on the basis of international agreements or by means of nostrification. Nostrification is a procedure whereby a foreign educational qualification is compared to its Polish equivalent and their equivalence determined. AUTHORITIES COMPETENT FOR CERTIFYING PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS FOR: • Regulated professions (competent authorities) • Apprenticeship certificates and master diplomas - Polish Craft Association (www. zrp. pl ) • External professional exams – local educational authorities (kuratoria oświaty) • Medical professions – Ministry of Health (Department of Science and Higher Education)
