What is Citrix? • Citrix allows applications to be executed on an Application Server with the presentation layer (video/keyboard/mouse/audio) on a remote client computer. • “pc. Anywhere for lots of people at once” • Client Independence, most any type of computer can function as a client system. tm www. treasury. sungard. com

Citrix Independent Computing Architecture (ICA) Thin Resources Citrix ICA requires the equivalent of an Intel® 286 processor and access to a minimum of 640 KB of RAM to operate. Thin Wires The Citrix ICA protocol consumes less than 20 Kb of bandwidth. This allows it to operate consistently—even over dial-up and ISDN connections—without regard to the robustness of the executing application. Universal Application Client Citrix ICA works with any Windows, UNIX or Java application. Citrix ICA takes applications designed for a wide range of deployment technologies and deploys them with only one piece of ICA-based client software. Platform Independent Citrix ICA is inherently platform independent and has been ported to Symbian OS, Linux®, Java, Windows CE, OS/2®, Macintosh® and other non-DOS devices to deliver Windows applications to non-Windows and specialized ICA devices. Desktop Session www. treasury. sungard. com
Seamless Session Application appears indistinguishable from a locally executing application. No remote desktop is presented, no concerns about locking down applications or system functions on Citrix desktop. You just see the application. www. treasury. sungard. com
Port Mapping Connects “local” resources, such as printers, COM ports and audio devices to Remote Citrix Server. Allows applications running on the Citrix Server to use these resources just as if the application was running locally. www. treasury. sungard. com
Printer Mapping w/Remote Print Server Information from www. citrix. com www. treasury. sungard. com

Citrix for Remote/Distributed Treasury Allows remote users/offices acceptable performance over slower connections. Eliminates need to install/maintain applications at remote locations. Allows full access to applications, as if in the office from remote offices or home. www. treasury. sungard. com
Citrix for Desktop Performance Thin Resources Citrix ICA requires the equivalent of an Intel® 286 processor and access to a minimum of 640 KB of RAM to operate. Thin Wires The Citrix ICA protocol consumes less than 20 Kb of bandwidth. Because application is actually running on the Citrix Server the client PC is only handling processing and network traffic for the Presentation layer resource usage drops dramatically. This could be useful for extending the life of older PC’s, non-Windows PCs and devices, and running a few too many applications at once. www. treasury. sungard. com
Distribution of New Software and Versions All software except for the ICA (Citrix Client) resides on central server or server farm. New software or versions of software installed on the servers, applications are then published and available for users. ICA updates can be delivered via web, SMS, shared drive or other media. Users can test multiple versions of application at once, side by side. www. treasury. sungard. com
Citrix’s Role in Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Combined with database replication Citrix can provide independence from both a given office as well as a datacenter. Users can work from alternate locations or even from home and still have the exact same environment as in the office. www. treasury. sungard. com
Redundant Citrix Servers and Replicated Database Servers www. treasury. sungard. com
Some Suggested Practices Retain the ability to test applications outside of Citrix environment. Have in-house Citrix administration staff and knowledge. Put in place support structures for remote offices and resources. www. treasury. sungard. com
