Origins What is Malibu? Malibu is the original Caribbean rum with natural coconut flavor and the world’s favorite. Known as the birthplace of rum and Malibu, Barbados produces rums that are lighter and have a subtle taste of sugarcane and a hint of soft butter rum. Malibu is perfect for creating cool and refreshing cocktails to help you “Get Your Island On. ” With its delicious and distinctly Caribbean flavor, Malibu brings the light-hearted spirit and upbeat energy of the islands to consumers around the world every day. History Malibu’s story is rooted in Barbados, the birthplace of rum. Made from fresh Sugar cane juice, cane syrup or molasses rum is said to have been created when a thirsty islander tasted leftover melaza, or molasses, which had been mixed with water and left in the sun for weeks to ferment. what was sampled became known as the crude version of rum. The spirit was first mentioned in a manuscript from Barbados in 1651. However, this new liquor was described, not as sweet and delicious, but as “hot, hellish and terrible. The distillation Process continued to evolve In barbados and finally, a more sophisticated, refined liquor emerged. Page 5
Production Rum is made from fresh sugarcane juice, cane syrup or molasses, which results from the processing of raw sugarcane into refined sugar cane , fermented molasses, cane syrup or cane juice. Molasses contains minerals and non-sugar organic compounds that give molasses-based rum special flavor and character. The fermented molasses is distilled 3 time in specially design column stills , the resulting white rum , is then blended with natural coconut flavoring to produce what we know and enjoy as MALIBU Page 6

Tasting Note While having real spirit credentials Malibu is lower in alcohol than other spirits and makes for easy drinking. Malibu has a full, rounded coconut aroma, lightly toasted, and a creamy meaty coconut taste with vanilla custard notes. The body is full and creamy with a soft warming rum taste and a lasting silky finish. TASTING NOTES Color: Clear Aroma: Moderately light-bodied.
