Why should I go abroad? To broaden or deepen your knowledge Language skills: it is good for your English proficiency Social and intercultural skills: it is good for your personal development – you get an insight view of another country/society As a graduate with a period abroad on your CV you have a better position on the labour market
What am I going to do abroad, where and when? Study or internship? If study: Not only optional credits can be done abroad, but also obligatory course parts are possible if you have approval of the Examination Board If study: you need a partner university. Otherwise you’ll have to pay tuition fees. Scholarship programmes • Erasmus+ scholarship • List of Bilateral Agreements; see http: //www. ru. nl/science/education/international-office/outgoingstudents/ • 3– 12 months in Europe for study • 2 -12 months in Europe for an internship • For each cycle up to 12 months: BSc, MSc and Ph. D • Finances: 270 Euros for “expensive” countries, 210 intermediate countries and 150 for “cheap” countries; internship 120, - extra per month
Erasmus+ scholarship non-EU • a monthly allowance of € 650 • a one-off reimbursement of travel expenses depending on destination, varying from € 180 to € 1100 • only for 8 partners in Russia, Georgia, Israel, Canada and Egypt • only for study pusposes, not for internships • deadline: 1 February 2017

Scholarship programmes Max Planck Scholarship • Research internship in Master’s at a MPI in Germany • At least 6 months, max. 1 year • Finances: 500 euro per month (Erasmus + a bonus) • Nomination via Hub Nijssen io@science. ru. nl • Step 1: read about a research topic of your interest at a MPI: https: //www. mpg. de/institutes • Step 2: talk about it with your study advisor or a professor • Step 3: make a short proposal (1/2 A 4) and a CV and mail io@science. ru. nl • Step 4: IO contacts the MPI and nominates you • Step 5: if the MPI accepts you, you’ll get the scholarship
Duitsland Scholarship DIA • www. studereninduitsland. nl • 3 -5 months in Germany • 400 euro per month • Early deadline: 1 December (start in April) or 1 July (start in October)
