Background • Two College District in Orange County, CA – Saddleback College, Mission Viejo – Irvine Valley College, Irvine • Approximately 37, 000 students (23, 000 FTES) • Culture of innovation and direct student service in IT
Project Goals • Create a system that provides: – Self-service guide for students to set academic goals – Tracking system for counselors and students to monitor progress toward those goals – Automated assistance for students to select classes that help achieve the goals • • Use flexible architecture Enable future integration with registration
Process • Design Team Creation – Counselors – Students – Articulation Staff • Iterative prototypes • Discussions began in late 2004, serious development began in Fall 2005
