Why become an academic representative? Your role as an academic rep is hugely important and serves to coordinate and feedback the views, issues and needs of students, to The University and The Students' Union, you can help make a positive change to an individual student right up to changing the way The University operates.
Why become an academic rep? You can have real power to influence the issues that affect you most; module choices and content as well as policies and procedures. Opportunity to represent a large group of students from different backgrounds and needs.
Your role Make contact with students, gather feedback Present the feedback to The University and The Union at : - Programme Committee Meetings - Student Voice Forums - Cross Campus Monthly Meetings Feedback to the students; informing them of any changes or developments.
Programme Committee Meetings These are formal meetings with Academic and Administrative staff who will listen to any issues or feedback you have gathered from your fellow students. These are a crucial part of your role because these meetings can result in important changes to your course. You will need to attend 2 PCMs; 1 per semester.
