One Planet York • What it is: • A new city framework or ‘shared platform’ that we plug existing (and planned) action & delivery into • A relatively light touch way of organising ourselves as city actors / stakeholders, joining the dots between our work to shine a bigger light on it (Understanding / Awareness / Recognition / Participation / Action / Aspiration) • A way to identify gaps in delivery and be a new city ‘thought leader’ / catalyst for action • What it isn’t: • Lots of additional/new boards, delivery groups and action plans ‘The job is less about command control and more about convene and ask’
One Planet York Launch • York Festival of Ideas • 200 delegates / 23 local organisations “One Planet York places York at the centre of a global movement of cities creating new, collaborative ways to provide the leadership required for a future sustainable city” “Changing city structures mean everyone is now a leader”
Civic leadership ‘putting sustainability at the heart of everything we do and working towards One Planet living’– City of York Council Plan 2015 -19 Hosting and facilitating the emerging One Planet York partnership – New OPC policy and action plan – New ‘Integrated Assessment Tool’ – New Carbon and Resource Smart Management Plan, including: • Securing £ 1 m for new renewable energy schemes • Water audit • IT switch offs etc. .
