Findings from the conducted experimental classes When developing and implementing Web. Quests, teachers should keep the following principles in mind to make the experience more meaningful for students. Choose your Web. Quest wisely. There are webquests free and not free. Check student technology proficiency. Check students prior knowledge of how it works , clearly describe the purpose of a learning activity, the directions students need to follow, and the learning goals they are expected to achieve. Assess the availability of computers. Maximize class time on the computer. Clarify student roles. Make assessment clear to students Be supportive if needed be a participant Do not judge strictly the first time.
Lack of time for teachers to create and use their own Web. Quests may be the most difficult problem. One alternative is to use what is already out there. Many Internet sites include collections of teachercreated Web. Quests. For those teachers who want to create their own Web. Quest the best advise is to start simple, designing and creating short-term Web. Quests at first and moving toward more complex, longer-termed activities.
Using Web page development software may be too time-consuming for some teachers, due to the time needed to become truly comfortable with the software. Web pages can easily be developed using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Power Point, software programs with which many teachers are familiar. It is as simple as saving the document as a Web page.
The topic of Web. Quests should be closely connected to the students’ interests and background knowledge to allow them “to be able to find themselves, their concerns, or their interests in the learning scenarios” The role of a teacher is therefore to identify the topic of inquiry, facilitate the learning process, and to motivate learners to participate actively in the research.
