BORDER GUARD AGENCY OF UKRAINE SERVICE FUNCTIONS Operative investigation performed by officers of Border Guarding units; Decision on deportation of foreigners and persons without citizenship legal status from Ukraine; Ensuring national security interests, criminal investigations, international organized crime counteraction in border control at national border of Ukraine; Decision on conducting simplified border control; Letting in or out of Ukraine, shifting of transport, freight and properties round check points (in urgent, extraordinary situations in case of absence any threats as to national security of Ukraine; Permission on taking off and landing airplanes from airports without border control stations; Court expertise of passports during the Border control procedure; Permission foreign battle ships to sail in internal waters and to the ports of Ukraine preliminary passport examination in foreign airports. GREEN BORDER PROTECTION Ukraine’s “green” border is being guarded by more than 300 border stations. The average length of border segment being guarded by one border station is 20 -30 km Border stations means and strength comprise: personnel (30 -50 persons, including 5 -15 BG inspectors); means of transportation; engineering techniques and fortifications (radar stations, signal complexes, sensors, observation means etc); service dogs In its basis “green border” guarding has: collection and implementation of intelligence information in frontier zone; state border guarding and patrolling in cooperation with other law enforcement bodies and voluntary civil formations. frontier zone patrolling; border guard inspectors service activity; control after the border regime measures execution.
