What we’ve learned n We have learned how to use the laser transit which is mapping out the area with Tracey. n We also have learned how to identify what artifacts are. n We learned how to map out the grid for the sites that we had dug.
Research Question n Who lived here? n A: Native Americans Chert core n Artifacts; flakes tools arrowhead bones, projectile point, knife tip, and flakes.
Research Questions That We Asked Before We Dug n Which Native groups lived here? n Answer: We don’t know what native groups lived there.
Questions that were asked answered n How long did the Native groups lived there? n Answer: 10, 000 B. C. to 500 B. C n Why did the Native Americans lived in Burtonsville? n Answer: they lived there for food and water and chert for tools.
Research Question n Q. What kind of animals lived here? n A. Deer, bear, fox, birds and fish. Artifacts: cow and pig bone and shells
Research Question n Q. What did the people who lived in the house do for an occupation? n A. They worked in the mill n Artifacts: not much.
Research question n How long did people live in the house? n A. 1800 -20 th century n Artifact: plastic and pearlware.
Why did people leave They left because the building burnt down. Artifacts: melted glass, burnt materials (coal, charcoal, coal ash, blackened masonry)
