Control • • • Chapter Vice President is RTS Chairperson VP devotes full attention to RTS VP learns things that may suggest changes for next time President has time for other chapter business Committees for each area of responsibility Periodic meetings starting about 5 -6 months out

Where to Have the Event? • • Budget dictates location Local agency community center or hall at no cost Near airport for easy access Hotel near the site for out of town guests Wireless or Internet access for onsite registration Space to hold seminars Room to serve breakfast/lunch Keynote speaker to open event
How Much to Charge? • Have an idea of expenses • At a minimum, try to cover costs with the registration fee • Ad revenue from directory • Sponsorships • Do entities attend for free? • Keep in mind the local economy and small businesses • Advise that no-shows will be charged
Seminars • Demonstrate on-line vendor registration • Explain local vendor preference, green initiatives and/or other socio-economic goals • Teach how to submit bids or RFP’s • How to do business with government • Opportunity to earn NIGP’s Government Contractor Certificate (revenue sharing for chapter)
Growing • • • First year – minimize costs and target local vendors. Half day with just reverse trade show Word will spread Expand to full day with seminars Look for opportunities to grow – perhaps pair with golf event or buyer/seller dinner
