Commercial Yacht Code 2010 • The Commercial Yacht Code, 2010, shall apply to commercial yachts the keels of which are laid or which are registered under the Malta flag as from January 2011. • Commercial yachts registered under the Malta flag and whose keels were laid before 1 January 2011 shall comply with the requirements of this Code by the first survey due on or after 1 March 2011, but in any case by not later than 31 December 2011. • Drawn up for yachts which do not carry cargo and do not carry more than 12 passengers and are operated by the owner or the body corporate owning the vessel for commercial use. • The code applies to yachts: • of not less than 15 meters and not more than 24 meters in length; • of more than 24 meters in length and less than 500 gross tonnes; • of more than 24 metres in length and 500 gross tonnes but less than 3000 gross tonnes.

Survey and Certification Required • All yachts must be surveyed and certified in accordance to their respective requirements. • Certificates involved: – – – • International Tonnage Certificate (ITC) Load Line Certificate (LLC) Safety Radio Certificate (SAFRAD) International Oil Pollution Prevention Certificate (IOPP) Certificate of Class Safety Construction Certificate (SAFCON) Safety Equipment Certificate (SAFEQ) Safety Management Certificate (SMC) International Ship Security Certificate (ISSC) Continuous Synopsis Record (CSR) Minimum Safe Manning Certificate (MSM) New building can be provisionally registered up on providing a letter from class stating that it is being built to class rules.
