Solar. Keymark-II A large open EU market for solar thermal products Project N°: EIE/05/052/SI Solar. Keymark-II A large open EU market for solar thermal products Project N°: EIE/05/052/SI 2. 420194 Duration: January 2006 – December 2007 (24 months)

Solar. Keymark-II: Project Summary • Overcoming barriers to trade in solar thermal products within Solar. Keymark-II: Project Summary • Overcoming barriers to trade in solar thermal products within the EU • Increasing acceptance of ONE European certification scheme, the CEN Solar Keymark • Improving the scheme and the underlying standards • 12 manufacturers and research/test institutes working jointly with ESTIF as co-ordinator • Started: January 2006, runs for 24 months

Solar. Keymark-II: Background • Many differents support schemes for Solar Thermal in Europe • Solar. Keymark-II: Background • Many differents support schemes for Solar Thermal in Europe • Different product requirements • Result: barriers to trade • Solution: Only ONE European certification, the Solar Keymark • But: Not yet recognised everywhere • And: Manufacturers often waiting for progress before certifying their products

SK-II: Objectives and main steps Overall goal: • One large open EU market for SK-II: Objectives and main steps Overall goal: • One large open EU market for solar thermal products Main steps: • Identification of current trade barriers, problems with the Solar Keymark, and ways to improve the situation • Updating the Solar Keymark scheme rules and EN Standards to make them more flexible and easier to handle • Promoting the Solar Keymark and its improvements to public authoritites in charge of solar thermal support schemes and to manufacturers/traders

Solar. Keymark-II: Expected Results • Removal of trade barriers for solar thermal within the Solar. Keymark-II: Expected Results • Removal of trade barriers for solar thermal within the EU • Higher integration of EU market, resulting in more competition at European level, economies of scale, and transfer of know-how • More transparent information on product quality, resulting in higher trust of all actors involved

Solar. Keymark-II: Status of Solar Keymark • The number of Solar Keymark licenses is Solar. Keymark-II: Status of Solar Keymark • The number of Solar Keymark licenses is continuously being monitored – it has increased more than 70% in the first half year of the project
