What does SIDM mean ? Serial Impact Dot Matrix ? In contrast to 9 -pin printers, a 24 -pin printer uses two rows of pin in a shifted arrangement. Thus the printed dots overlap and realise a higher quality. With EPSON-printers like DFX-8500, DFX-5000+ etc. there are 2 x 9 pin in the head. The pins have the same arrangements like those of a 24 -pin printer (ie. parallel). 2 x 9 pins printers can perform Copy mode (2 dots impact at the same location), so that density is higher. Enveloppe Gap Labels Mechanism Multi-part paper (1/2) ……. . Depending on the paper Thickness, the user can adjust the gap between the Head and the Platen. This adjustment can be manual or automatic, it’s called the Platen-Gap. 23
