Sewage treatment Janika Filonova rdkr21
Introduction The reason why I chose this topic is my summer practise Contact with my education Interest in this process
Flowchart of the process
Screening ( Bar screen ) The influent sewage water passes through a bar screen The solids are collected and later disposed in a landfill, or incinerated Bar screens or mesh screens of varying sizes may be used to optimize solids removal.
Flow equalization Clarifiers and mechanized secondary treatment are more efficient under uniform flow conditions Cleaning may be easier if the basin is downstream of screening and grit removal.
Filtration Sand filtration removes much of the residual suspended matter Filtration over activated carbon, also called carbon adsorption, removes residual toxins
Interesting facts In Latin America about 15% of collected wastewater passes through treatment plants (with varying levels of actual treatment) Most of sub-Saharan Africa is without wastewater treatment.
My opinion I think that sewage treatment is necessary for us, because dirty sewage can damage our environment and we must protect it.
