S 5/6 l l l l Courses at N 4, N 5, Higher and Advanced Higher 5 Subjects in S 5 to include English Exam at end of session for N 5/H/AH or Course Units Mathematics not compulsory but most students are advised to continue Can continue with subjects studied in S 4 or pick new subjects. Points to Note l If SQA results are not as good/ are better? – Students can change their choices in August l Problem of small classes – Not all subjects will run l What happens if a pupil can’t pick a subject he/she wants? – They should enter what they would like to do and we will try to make it happen 15
Educational Maintenance Allowance l Money paid to pupils in S 5 and S 6 l Purpose - Encourage them to stay at school to continue their studies l Paid every two weeks l Family income under £ 30, 000 a year l Aged between 16 -19 l In taught lessons for 21 hours of learning a week. 16
