LIVING CONDITION IN RUSSIA • Universities offer accommodation to all foreign students with full-time education. • Cost of accommodation is 300 - 4 000 rubles (approximately $5 -$70) per month; the price depends on comfort level in a specific university residence hall. • Fees can be paid monthly, every term or once a year according to specific university internal regulations. • If you do not want to live in a university residence, you can rent a room or an apartment which costs 10 000 - 30 000 rubles (approximately $170 -$600). • Cost of living will be much cheaper in non-metropolitan areas.

TRANSORTATION IN RUSSIA • If you choose accommodation in a residence hall on campus, you’ll live near the university. • If you’ll live far from University you should buy student travel card for using public transport. • Considering student discount your expenses to travel by metro in Moscow will be 380 rubles per month and to travel by surface transport – 250 rubles per month. Total sum is only 600 rubles (approximately $11). • Keep in mind that in other cities cost of travel will be even lower.

WORK FOR STUDENTS • Foreign student can works in the University or any university organization without any permission. • For working outside you will need Permission from universities that have a state accreditation. • It’s important that you can work only by profession stated in permission and only in the region (city) of your university. • The permission for work is valid for 1 year. After 1 year permission for work should be prolonged for a new term. • For releasing permission for work you should apply to Federal Migration Service of Russia.

MEDICAL CARE FOR STUDENTS • You can have only emergency medical services free of charge. For any other medical assistance you must have a Health Insurance Policy. • To have medical care during studying in Russia you should get a health insurance policy, and it is better to do it in advance to exclude any risks after arriving to Russia. • You can buy a private medical insurance policy in advance, or immediately after arriving in Russia. • Cost of private medical insurance policy is 3 500 - 12 000 rubles (approximately $60 -$200) with validity from 3 months to 1 year. • From 2016 penalty for health insurance absence foreigners is 2 000 - 7 000 rubles (approximately $35 -$115).

FEES & COST OF EDUCATION • Education in Russia costs by 5 -7 times cheaper, then in Europe and the USA: the cost varies from $500 to $6 000 per year. • The average cost of education on programs for a bachelor’s degree is $2 000 per year. • The average cost of education on programs for a master’s degree is $2 500 per year.

STATE SCHOLORSHIPS • 15 000 government grants foreign students are given in Russia annually. • The grant provides your free studying on the chosen specialty for the entire period of education. Also, if you need to improve knowledge of Russian Language, the grant covers education at preparatory faculty. • All candidates with the secondary school and vocational school finished can receive a grant. • Selections take place in two stages.

STATE SCHOLORSHIPS • The First stage will take place in your country at the RCSC. A Special Commission under the Embassy of the Russian Federation in India will do the competitive selection among the applications received for state grants. • After online Application, candidates will be asked to submit their Original Documents at the RCSC for verification before selection results. • The Second stage consists in selection of suitable candidates by the Russian universities. • In 1 -2 months after passing of competitive selection in your own country and selection by the chosen higher education institutions in Russia you will be informed about results.

STATE SCHOLORSHIPS • If competitive selection not passed, you can send the Application for studying by contract and enter the Russian university on a paid basis. • Government grant does not cover transfer to University, living expenses and health insurance. • But, a monthly payment is provided. In 2016 payment constituted 1 300 rubles ($21). • State Grants will be only provided if you study any specialty in Russian Language only.
