About the school Secondary school of Business, Gastronomy and Design PRAKTIK Ltd. with the capacity of 650 students is the biggest private vocational school in Olomouc region. It started as the Centre of Vocational Training, but since 1. 9. 2006 it has been providing both theoretical and vocational education in eight secondary courses for students aged 15 to 19. As the name of the school implies, the study programs concern the area of business, gastronomy and creative arts.
Educational courses 1. The school provides secondary education with vocational certificate (ISCED 3 C) in following courses: • Cook • Waiter-bartender • Shop assistant • Window dresser 2. The school also provides secondary education with a school leaving exam (called Maturita, ISCED 3 A) in following courses: • Tradesman • Gastronomy • Graphic designer • Stage and Exhibition designer • Economics and Business
Cook 3 -year-course leading to vocational certificate One week of theoretical education alternates with one week of on-job vocational training Graduates work as cooks in the area of public catering in hotels, restaurants, school canteens etc.
Waiter-Bartender 3 -year-course leading to vocational certificate. One week of theoretical education alternates with one week of on-job-training An important part of the programme is a bartender course and training Graduates work as waiters or bartenders in restaurants, hotels etc.
Shop Assistant 3 -year-course leading to vocational certificate. One week of theoretical education alternates with one week of on-job training Graduates works as shop assistants in the retail or wholesale area. The most important social partner of the school is the Globus hypermarket and the wholesale Makro.
Window Dresser 3 -year- creative course leading to vocational certificate, one week of theoretical education alternates with one week of vocational training Graduates work as window dressers, often freelance, at shops, at advertising departments of big stores or advertising and graphics agencies or studios.
Tradesman 4 -year-course with a school leaving exam (Maturita). With theoretical education students have got 1 day of vocational training a week and 10 days of on-job-training practice a school year. Graduates can work as retail or wholesome shop managers, dealers, real estate agents, merchants, book-keepers, supply agents etc. They can continue at higher schools and universities.
Economics and Business 4 -year-course with a school leaving exam (Maturita). With theoretical education students have got also 10 days of on-job-training practice a school year. Graduates can work e. g. as accountants, auditors, economists, financial analysts, in banking and insurance services, production, sales, marketing or in travel and tourism area. They can continue at higher schools and universities.
Gastronomy 4 -year-course with a school leaving exam (Maturita). With theoretical education pupils have got 6+7+12+7 hours a week system of vocational training and 10 days of on-job vocational practice a school year. Graduates in accordance with their specification can work as head waiters or chefs in hotels or restaurants etc. or managers in the area of gastronomy. They can continue at higher schools.
Graphics designer 4 -year-course with a school leaving exam (Maturita). Admission requires the pupils´ talent demonstration in an aptitude exam. Graduates can work as e. g. designers in graphics studios, creative redactors in magazines or as display designers or advertising clerks. They can continue at higher schools and universities.
Stage and Exhibition designer 4 -year-course with a school leaving exam (Maturita). Admission requires the pupils´ talent demonstration in an aptitude exam. Graduates can work as e. g. exhibitory agencies workers, designers of exhibition or shopping areas or in advertising studios or as room designers. They can continue at higher schools and universities.
Other school education activities The school takes part in some ESF projects on the base of partnership and organizes retraining courses. It also organizes vocational examinations. according National system of Qualifications for professions of Retail specialist and Cook-Waiter.
