A little about me… • • Traci Reitz (Traci Spencer) Raised in & around Santa Monica Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (USC) Past 2+ years worked with Global Green USA’s Green Building Resource Center. • I have also worked for Tree. People, Clean & Green Community Wind Power, as an Interior Designer, a Green Design Consultant, and a community organizer & educator through Sustainable. LA, an organization I started.
A little about me… • Intimate knowledge of the City. • Already an active member of the local ‘green’ community. • Experience in research, community building, program development, education, outreach, marketing & sales. • Involved in many diverse areas of sustainability.
Why is a CSL needed? • Santa Monica is a leader among sustainable cities. • Shared community values embrace sustainable living. • Affluent residents & consistent economic growth provide ample opportunity for improvements. • Ideal climate for simple solutions • Etc…. • What is the barrier?
Why a CSL is needed: • Dispersed programs lack the integration necessary to present consistent messaging and resources. • Lack of integration between the SCTF, City staff, local organizations, residents, community groups and other stakeholders. • SCTF volunteers do not have the time or resources to reach all the stakeholders that must be involved to reach SCPGs. • Result: The community is largely unaware of SMEPD programs, SCPGs & resources available.
CSL Role • Promote SCPGs within community • Reach out to stakeholders & provide them with the information, tools & resources needed to reach SCPGs. • Facilitate the coordination & implementation of local programs • Provide a single point of contact for resources and support • Enhance the effectiveness of Santa Monica’s commitment to sustainability. …be the face of the SCTF & ears of the community
