School of Allied Health Professions & Sport Postgraduate Certificates in: TEACHING DATES • PHYSIOTHERAPY IN WOMEN’S HEALTH • CONTINENCE FOR PHYSIOTHERAPISTS These postgraduate certificates are of benefit to physiotherapists working in the speciality of women’s health or continence rehabilitation across a variety of healthcare settings. They offer physiotherapists a range of opportunities to develop advanced knowledge, critical reasoning & practical skills relevant to their role in order to extend clinical practice in this field of rehabilitation. These are currently the only programmes in the UK offering these specialist areas of study. Continence Theory: 20 -22 September 2015 25 -27 October 2015 6 -8 December 2015 Continence Practice: 31 January – 2 February 2016 Women’s Health Theory: 20 -22 September 2015 18 -20 October 2015 22 - 24 November 2015 Women’s Health Practice: 24 – 26 January 2016 COST PER CERTIFICATE £ 2900 Each Postgraduate Certificate consists of two 30 credit core modules. The Pelvic, Obstetric & Gynaecological Physiotherapy (POGP) (formerly Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Women’s Health) has endorsed this pathway and completion provides eligibility for membership of POGP. Core Modules Theory of Physiotherapy in Women’s Health Practice of Physiotherapy in Women’s Health Or Continence Theory for Physiotherapists Continence Practice for Physiotherapists 30 Credits 30 credits The core modules, which consist of theoretical and practical components, are delivered by University-based teaching blocks & in an appropriate clinical setting. Each student will be allocated a clinical mentor. Successful completion of both core modules will result in the award of a postgraduate certificate. It is possible to extend study and undertake additional modules towards the award of MSc Physiotherapy in Women’s Health / Continence Practice. Students who have completed other University courses in the last five years may have them considered to contribute to this Masters programme. Funding may be available for: • Employees of an organisation providing NHS services within the York’s & Humber Strategic Health Authority and offering audited /profiled practice placement provision • Healthcare professionals employed by an organisation who will provide agreed practice placement provision to York’s & Humber SHA region NHS Students. Please note peer physical examination is used during teaching.
