From the history of the Saratov Hippodrome The history of the Saratov Hippodrome starts on the 8 th of August 1858, when Alexander II (the Emperor of Russia) created the "Society of hunters of horse run". The Hippodrome was equipped in the area of modern the station Saratov-2 and gave the name of the nearest street «Begovaya» .
In 1889 the Hippodrome was moved to the forecourt in place of the present stadium “Locomotive". It had a mile round and place for visitors.
In 1915, the Hippodrome was transferred to the area of the 1 st Dachnaya. In 1926, the Hippodrome returned to the former place near train station. The Hippodrome did not work until 1943 because on it’s area housed the military supplies and stood anti-aircraft battery.
In 1958, the Hippodrome was moved in the area of the 3 rd Dachnaya. It occupied the territory of about 30 hectares. The building continued until 1970.
