Entrepreneurship • Owns the business and financial risk is on you • Learns skills to have a successful business
Entrepreneurship • Production or agribusiness related – Production Examples • Grow a commodity (trees, vegetables, livestock) – Agribusiness Examples • Buy and resell for profit (pets business, pay to fish operation)
Experimental • Planning and conducting an agricultural experiment using the scientific method
Experimental • Example – Comparing various fertilizers on plant growth
Analytical • Identify an ag. problem that can’t be solved by an experiment • Investigate and analyze the problem • Ex. A marketing display
Placement • Student is placed with an employee (full or part time) • Usually is paid but can be unpaid
Placement • Production or Agribusiness – Production Examples • Farm, ranch, greenhouse – Agribusiness Example • Vet center, florist, garden center
Exploratory • Observing, shadowing, or helping in an agricultural area • Short duration • Learn lots of ag. careers
Exploratory • Examples – Interviews, day shadowing, attend a career day
Improvement • Must be ag. related and improve: • Must increase: – Value – Efficiency or – Living conditions
Improvement • No wages • No ownership • Learn new skills • Examples – Building a fence, painting a room, landscaping
Supplementary • One skill not related to major SAE • Examples: – Ag mechanics SAE and you sow grass outside the shop – Beef Production SAE and you change the oil in your lawnmower
