Outline • • • P&P Themes impact Architectural Framework Mapping / Linkage Level of detail Level of professional group involvement Proposed QMS Planning Group Task List
S 2 ESC Plans and Policies themes • Strategic relationships with other standards collections • Clear relationship between system and software • Emphasis on organizationally adopted processes • Uniform process framework based on IEEE/EIA 12207. 0 and related standards • Architectural coherence Paul Croll, 10 -Jun-04
S 2 ESC Plans and Policies themes • Strategic relationships with other standards collections – ISO TC 176 Quality Management, ISO 9001: 2000 ISO 9001 Sectors: Auto, Aerospace, Telecom SEI CMMI-SW/SE/IPPD/SS • Clear relationship between system and software – TL 9000 -SW, TL 9000 -HW, TL 9000 -SW/HW • Emphasis on organizationally adopted processes – Tailoring for ISO 9001 & CMMI • Uniform process framework based on IEEE/EIA 12207. 0 and related standards – ISO/IEC 90003: 2004 linkage to 12207 • Architectural coherence – Mapping between S 2 ESC collection and into Life Cycle SW 12207 & SE 15288
SP-05 Architectural Framework
SP-07 Relationship to Quality Management - Policy Statements • S 2 ESC standards have the goal of consistency with the quality management standards of ISO TC 176 • S 2 ESC commits that ISO 9001: 2000 will provide the principles and concepts for a quality program in future updates of the IEEE software & system engineering standards • S 2 ESC commits that ISO/IEC 90003: 2004 will be recognized as the primary document for guidance of the application of ISO 9001: 2000 for quality systems for organizations involved with systems containing software and will serve as the basis for updates of standards involving quality systems in the IEEE software & system engineering standards
SP-15 Capability Maturity Model Integration Policy Statement • S 2 ESC standards should avoid contradicting any normative parts of this model. The following should be considered as guidelines for standards development or revision: – When the CMMI describes key practices IEEE S 2 E standards should build on these practices, and not contradict them. – The scope of the CMMI should be considered as one source for the possible development of new IEEE S 2 E standards.
