Nobel Prize is an important event of the year. Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to 162 people.
The first and only chemist from Russia was Nikolay Semyonov. He won the Nobel Prize with Cyril Hinshelwood. Nikolay Semyonov was born in 1896 in Saratov. He founded Institute of Chemical Physics in 1931. The scientist organized The Department of Chemical Kinetics.
Semyonov discovered the branched chain reactions in 1928. He showed a radical mechanism of process. Nikolay Semyonov and Cyril Hinshelwood won Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1956.
