Moscow, St. Petersburg, Red Square, ballet and bears. Alla Pugacheva, vodka and balalaika… Russia is one of the largest countries in the world. The vast territory of Russia lies in the eastern part of Europe and the northern part of Asia. Russia is washed by twelve seas and three oceans. The capital of Russian Federation is Moscow, with the population of about 10 million people. The land of Russia varies very much from forests to deserts, from high mountains to deep valleys. The main mountain are the Urals, the Caucasus and the Altai. There a lot of great rivers and deep lakes on its territory. Also there are many animals in Russia.
On the territory of our country primitive man appeared in the early Paleolithic - Old Stone Age (about 700 thousand years ago). Check came from the south, as evidenced by archaeological finds. Thus, in the Zhitomir area and on the Dniester found traces of ancient people 500 -300 thousand years ago. Parking people mean-Paleolithic (100 -35 million years BC) have been found on the territory of Russia: in the Middle and Lower Volga and in other places. These settlements were relatively few in number and were located at a considerable distance from each other. Ancient people engaged in gathering, hunting, fishing (assigns farm), and later - agriculture and cattle breeding (producing sector). Hoe farming (by hand hoe without draft animals), it was later replaced by the plow - harnessed to a plow horse or oxen.

The economy of Russia is the Eighth largest economy in the world by nominal value and the sixth largest by purchasing power parity (PPP). Russian economy is today considered by IMF and World Bank a developing one. Russia has an abundance of Fossil Fuels (Oil, Natural gas and coal) and precious metals. Russia has undergone significant changes since the collapse of the Soviet Union, moving from a centrally planned economy to a more marketbased and globally integrated economy.
The longest rivers are the Volga in Europe and the Ob, the Yenisei and the Lena in Asia. The largest lakes are Ladoga and Baikal is the deepest lake in the world and its water is the purest on earth. The Russian Federation is rich in natural and mineral resources. It has deposits of oil, gas, iron, gold, silver and many others. The European part of the country is densely peopled, and most population live in cities. The current population of Russia is more than 145 million people. Russia is a presidential republic. It is one of the leading powers in the world.
