The Piano Theatre has existed under the Nizhniy Novgorod boarding school for deaf children since 1986.
Children and teenagers, suffering from deafness, have trainings in pantomime, clownery, dancing and acting.
For actors of the Piano Theatre it is the language of motion, rhythm, plastique.
Actors “sing music” with their body, changing type and form of movement under the today’s tasks and improving type and form of sensation and thinking.
Theatre enables them to speak and to be heard. This “visible music” is both a theme and a mean of carrying on dialogue with spectators
Pantomime is an amazing type of art, which permit to “read” the subtlest soul vibrations through the movements of body, hands and eyes.
For the actors of the Piano theatre pantomime is a stage language, which demands the most important themes and the most sincere and virtuosic performance from an actor
Over the 25 years of existence the Piano Theatre has been developing the idea of tolerance in society by playing charitable performances for children in hospitals, children homes, schools.
Vladimir Chikishev, the creative director of the Piano Theatre, is a Honored Worker of Culture the Russian Federation, the teacher of the highest category.
During the 25 years of its existence, the Piano Theatre has taken part in more than 40 international theatre festivals and actions in Russia, Germany, USA, Luxembourg, Finland, Switzerland, England, Czech Republic, Denmark, Turkey, Austria
