The house for human always was the place for respite from the outside world and from the pressure of it. That’s because house must be comfortable and also that in it everything must be logical, beautiful and desirable quiet.
But Japanese artists and architects Shusaku Arakawa and Madeline Gins also known as «Poets of life» don’t agree with this outdated opinion. «People, especially old people, must not relax and do nothing. They should be located in the place, that will stimulate their feelings, cheer them up and force them to live. »
This view embodies their project called «Reversible-Destiny Lofts»
Innovative residential complex was built on project of this architects in the suburbs of Tokyo Mitaki. Lofts» complex is not huge: it contains only 9 flats and doesn’t really look like «cozy nest» .
§ The house is built from different-sized concrete blocks, also it doesn’t have any repeated volumes and color compositions. Different levels and billings of floors is specialty of every room, also as walls, that colored in bright and sometimes the brightest colors from poisonous pink to lemon-yellow or electric blue, also all this colors sometimes can’t fit on the one wall, even on the ceiling. As well the walls are not smooth, but enough interesting in their form.
§ This house also contains chaotic location of windows and doors, switches and sockets. Doors do not fit for the «Homo erectus» , and in the some rooms you can come only stooping or sideways. And toilets this house doesn’t have.
§ Meanwhile, flat in Reversible-Destiny Lofts costs 763000$ - it is 2 times more than simple flat in this area. And Japanese are ready to pay for this shock therapy! One of the flat was bought by 83 years old Buddhist nun, popular writer Jakucho Setouchi, who lived in this house first. She agrees with the opinion of architects and sure that from the moment of living there she starting too feeling younger and much healthier.
