Fieldwork Experience • Overall the fieldwork was extremely useful. It gave me an opportunity to get some practice on how fieldwork can be run and this will be invaluable in the future. Skills Learnt • I have learnt what type of activities are suitable for different locations and human/physical geography. I have also learnt how to successfully run a fieldwork day and keep the pupils busy and interested. The importance of visiting a site prior to field work was also a key thing learnt through the fieldwork. Lastly I have learnt the key things that need to be considered prior to running fieldwork that are often forgotten, such as toilet stops, lunch sites and back up plans. • When I have to run fieldwork of my own in future I will feel a lot more confident about how to organise it. I will also have a lot of ideas about how worksheets can be used successfully to gather important information.
Organisation Prior Knowledge • I feel like the Monday we had to explore the different sites was extremely important. It gave us time to prepare and to organise for the following day. I also like that fact that everyone worked together to build activities and successful ideas for each site. Improvements • On the school form, information concerning their outcomes from the fieldtrip would have been useful, e. g. when going to Much Wenlock/Farley Brook prior knowledge was needed as to whether the school wanted to focus on either site more. This affected the planning for the next day.
