• When the stem changing verb is a reflexive verb, conjugate it as you normally would, then put the reflexive pronoun in front of the conjugated verb. Despertarse (e-ie) –to wake up me Yo despierto

Remember no spelling change in the nosotros form. Nos despertamos Ellos y Yo

• When you use a helping verb, you must “ determine the subject of the sentence and add the appropriate reflexive pronoun to the end of the infinitive or before the conjugated verb. Reflexive commands follow the same rule for affirmative commands however …¡ojo! • For commands only!! Conjugate the verb to form a command then attach the pronoun to the end of the affirmative command add an accent to the stressed syllable (3 rd from the end) levántate • Levantarse (tú) (Get up!)
Negative Commands • Form negative commands by putting the verb in the “yo” form, drop o, opposite vowel, add “s” Hablo hable No hables Fumo fume No fumes como coma No comas duermo duerma No duermas escribo escriba No escribas
Irregular Negative Commands • • Hacer Ir poner salir Ser tener Venir No hagas tu tarea. No vayas al colegio. No pongas la mesa. No salgas tarde a la fiesta. No seas malo. No tengas miedo. No vengas aquí.
Negative commands in the reflexive. • Yo form / drop the “o”/ opposite vowel/ add “s” / put appropriate reflexive pronoun INFRONT of the conjugated verb. • No te levantes. Don’t get up • No te maquilles. Don’t put on make up. • No te estires. Don’t stretch. • No te enojes. Don’t get angry.
