INTRODUCTION: RED TACTON: So far we have seen LAN, MAN, WAN, INTERNET & many more…… • It uses surface of a human body as a safe, high speed network transmission path. • The name “TACTON” has originated, as the technology involves “touch and action”. The word “RED” indicates “warm and cordial communications. ” • Red. Tacton uses weak electric fields on the surface of the body as a transmission medium to enable data speeds of up to 10 Mbps between any two points on the body.
BACKGROUND: • • • NTT (Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp. ) found this amazing technology in the year 2005. NTT’s Red. Tacton is a breakthrough technology that, for the first time, enables reliable highspeed HAN based on human centred interactions being easier for people to use. Certain developments were made all the way in this technology and it is the way being used in all sectors for sensing technologies in security systems.
WORKING OF A RED TACTON:
WORKING OF RED TACTON DEVICE: 1. The Red. Tacton transmitter induces a weak electric field on the surface of the body. 2. The Red. Tacton receiver senses changes in the weak electric field on the surface of the body caused by the transmitter. 3. Red. Tacton relies upon the principle that the optical properties of an electro-optic crystal can vary according to the changes of a weak electric field. 4. Red. Tacton detects changes in the optical properties of an electro-optic crystal using a laser and converts the result to an electrical signal in a optical receiver circuit.
THREE FEATURES OF RED TACTON
TOUCH Touching, gripping, sitting, walking, stepping and other human movements can be the triggers for unlocking or locking, starting or stopping equipment, or obtaining data. Using Red. Tacton, communication starts when terminals carried by the user or embedded in devices are linked in various combinations through physical contact according to the human’s natural movements.
BROADBAND INTERACTIVE Communication speed can deteriorate in crowded spaces due to a lack of bandwidth Device drivers can be downloaded instantly and executable programs can be quickly sent.
This will soon replace the current existing technologies like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and many other personal area networks.
ANY MEDIA In addition to the human body, various conductors and dielectrics can be used as transmission media. Conductors and dielectrics may also be used in combination.
Potential applications… One-to-One services -----When a consumer stands in front of an advertising panel, advertising and information matching his or her attributes is automatically displayed. -----By touching or standing in front of items they are interested in. . . , consumers can get more in-depth information. Examples of Similar Applications: • Brochures only of products of interest to the visitor can be downloaded automatically at trade shows.
Potential Applications… Intuitive operations: ----Print out where you want just by touching the desired printer with one hand a PC or digital camera with the other hand to make the link. ----Complicated configurations are reduced by downloading device drivers "at first touch". Examples of Similar Applications: • Transfer songs to portable music players from notebook PCs with just a touch
Potential applications… NEW BEHAVIOUR PATTERNS: An electrically conductive sheet is embedded in the table. A network connection is initiated simply by placing a lap-top on the table. Using different sheet patterns enables segmentation of the table into subnets. Red. Tacton carry music or video between headsets, mobile devices, mobilephones, etc. Users can listen to music from a. Red. Tacton player simply by putting on a headset or holding a viewer.
Potential applications… SECURITY APPLICATIONS: Carrying a mobile Red. Tactoncapable device in one's pocket, ID is verified and the door unlocked when the user holds the doorknob normally. Secure lock administration is possible by combining personal verification tools such as fingerprint ID or other biometric in the mobile terminal.

CONCLUSION… The advent of Red. Tacton technology by NTT is in itself revolutionary, which will likely be targeted for use in applications such as wireless headphones, wearable medical devices, security applications, point-of-sale interactions etc. This could get as simple as two people equipped with Red. Tacton devices being able to exchange data just by shaking hands. It is amazing to see such a technology in the lives of human beings who always want comforts for their living in the present world.
