Real-time Pilot Project Overview and Status Mark Caissy –Natural Resources Canada presented at the International GNSS Service Workshop Miami, June 4 th 2008
Outline • • • What is a pilot project Let’s look back Where are we today Call for Participation Status
The Vision • IGS data and products available in realtime via IP communication links (open internet) • Global consistency of IGS rt-products • A multi-disciplinary community active and engaged
A Pilot Project – What is It? • Working groups work on topics of interest to the IGS – charter and terms of reference • Pilot Projects – leverage the outputs from WG activities – provide an opportunity to further refine these outputs towards developing new IGS service offerings – first major step is to complete and release a call for participation
Towards Real-time Workshop • RTWG Position Paper – The goal is to have in place a reliable, robust and manageable system of data and products exchange coming from a global network of multidisciplinary real-time tracking stations. – The objective of this session is to lay down the foundation needed to facilitate a free flowing exchange of real-time data and products among IGS members.
Hours
Current Network (50+ stations)
CFP- Key Objectives • Manage and maintain a global IGS real-time GNSS tracking network • Enhance and improve selected IGS products • Generate real-time products • Investigate standards and formats for real-time data collection, data dissemination and delivery of derived products • Monitor the integrity of IGU predicted orbits and GNSS status
Call for Participation § Released in June 2007 § 32 proposals received – all were accepted § All activities are represented § § § Tracking stations Network management Data centers RT-Analysis Coordinator RT-ACs and RT-ACCs Users
Status § Official start of the pilot project occurred in April 2008 § Existing Activity § RTACC § Data exchange and product exchange formats § Website needs to be updated § GDC’s will become engaged § Considering common look and feel for RTIGS/NTRIP data exchange interfaces
Recommendations § IGS – become active with RTCM SC 104 § Station Operators
