Who is NAPHSIS? National Association for Public Health Statistics and Information Systems § Formed in 1933 § Association of state health statistics and vital records agencies in 57 jurisdictions § Mission: Provide national leadership and advocacy on behalf of its members to ensure the quality, security, confidentiality and utility of vital records and health statistics, as well as their integral role within health information systems, for monitoring and improving public health. §

Data Analysis Tool Completed in 22 jurisdictions to-date § EVVE birth data fields analyzed to identify potential anomalies that may impact EVVE match rates § What to do with results? § • Jurisdiction can evaluate necessary data cleanup efforts, plans, resources needed (staff, money) • EVVE vendor may be able to modify query configuration rules • NAPHSIS can provide additional guidance in the EVVE Desk Guide • NAPHSIS can recommend additional training to users
EVVE Desk Guide NAPHSIS created this EVVE Desk Guide to provide authorized EVVE users with helpful hints on how to query using EVVE. The information in this guide should be treated as confidential and not shared with individuals that are not authorized to use EVVE. Alabama (1930) § Birth verifications can be requested beginning with 1930. Birth certifications can be requested beginning with 1995. § Verification query requests require transmission of the state file number (SFN) § The SFN is located in the upper right hand corner of the certificate § Delayed births, amended/changed records and foreign born certificates are in the EVVE database §
