Heating to which we are accustomed to uses the convection principle where source of heat is radiator, convector or other similar item. First air near the radiator is heated. Then it gets discharged and goes up, when it gets into contact with enclosing structures a partial heat transfer takes place. After that cooled down air goes down and then the cycle repeats. During that the surface of radiator heats to a sufficiently high temperature. Under the ceiling the temperature is maximal while the floor remains uncomfortably cool.

Estimated power consumption of the radiant heating system for the heating season at a temperature regime of – 300 С in the street and + 240 С indoors is: - for residential premises – 11 k. W-hours per month per 1 sq. m. м 2 of heated area; - for administrative premises – 15 k. W-hours per month per 1 sq. m. м 2 of heated area. Radiant heating system heats enclosing structures in the first place that’s why it is very important that they have sufficient thermal resistance (ability to prevent the passage of heat through them to the outside).
