Brain cells send signals that transport messages between each other.
Every time you have a new experience or learn a new fact, a new connection is made.
If you had 100 neurons, you would have just under 5, 000 connections.
You have around 86, 000, 000 neurons which make around 150, 000, 000 connections When you learn, connections between your neurons are strengthened.
To learn, we must first make a connection – if you are not paying attention in class or focusing on what you are reading, you are not making a connection. We cannot recall information that we never had in the first place … remember Miss Cannon’s scarf?
We can strengthen connections through rehearsal. Some of you may wish to forget the song ‘Let it go’ but you have heard it too many times … the connections in your brain are so strong that you can’t help hearing the next lines in your brain.
Let’s do an experiment to see if we can work out how to make the connections stronger.
