(How far away Denmark is situated from your country?) 4) What kind of problems exists in tourist gaze on Aalborg as a tourist destination?
PF What is Push and pull factors for visiting Aalborg among international tourists? What kind of factors may influence tourist motivation?
In order to answer on the following question we decided to conduct questionnaire among international tourists
In our questionnaire we were aimed to figure out “push” and “pull” factors which influence tourists decision making process
As a target group we suppose to overview young people in the age group - from 20 to 35. We decided to research this age group because we suppose it will be easier to find young travelers, furthermore we have some friends among this age group travelling to Denmark
We designed questionnaire with mixed type of question. Some of the questions demands tick one or several variant. Some of them aimed to make tourist write their thoughts in open from.
From the answers we found out main “push and “pull” factors
Pull: sights, culture (cultural activity, visiting museums and historical places), architecture, language, difference/similarities with home town, price index, convenience in terms of touristic infrastructure (sufficiency of tourist information, tourist signs and etc.) Push: advises of their friends and relatives, TV and Internet and willing to get leisure in the destination where travelling (like visiting pub and clubs)
Then we allocate which of those factors refer to international tourists who are divided by ‘low’ and ‘high’ travel experience level in accordance with TCP approach - Frequency of travelling (‘high-travel-experience’ and ‘low-travel-experience’ in accordance with TCP approach)
From the questionnaire we can conclude that tourists who use to travel less then half a year mostly prefer leisure rather then new cultural experience, in contrast with tourists how use to travel more then once in a year.
Push factors for people with ‘low-travel-experience’ first of all it advises of their friends and relatives, TV and Internet and willing to get leisure in the destination where travelling to. Pull factors it is first of all entertainments (like pub and clubs). For people, who travels more frequently then once a year, suppose to be more interesting in cultural activity - like visiting museums and historical places. As a Push factors for travelling for this group of people also can be concerned recommendations of friends and relatives, TV and Internet.
Pull factor for both group of people it is transport convenience and prices, quality of services and sufficiently of tourist information.
Also it is important to notes that tourists from Germany and Norway suggest that Aalborg similar with their home country. Languages are quite similar, so tourists from those countries can feel them self like at home
Resume: Two groups of tourists: ‘high traveling’ and ‘low travelling’ with individual motivation; Undisclosed existence of connection between travel experience and motivation; Also we were detected some connection between remoteness of home city from Aalborg and decision-making process.
Some problems of Aalborg as a tourist destination was detected – high prices, low level of services, lack of tourist information and signs
As for Aalborg, the tourism as a phenomenon in this city seems like at an early stage. This is seen in a small degree of support for tourism development at the administrative level;
Thank you for attention!
