Current Florida Building Code Noise Abatement Requirement • Code Sections 3113 and R 325 adopts the Aviation Safety and Noise Abatement Act of 1979, 14 CFR Part 150, DOT) as the guideline for establishing airport noise control • Part 150 requires study using instruments to establish noise zones by local ordinance • Construction in a community is regulated by ordinance depending on established zones

Issue • Florida Building Code does not provide prescriptive guidelines to comply with construction requirements in noise zones of civilian and military airports established by local entities

Recommendation • Change Florida Building Code to include prescriptive guidelines to comply with construction requirements in noise zones of military and civilian airports established by local ordinances using Duval County Ordinance as model
