o we are Wh Promidea is a social cooperative working since about 20 years on planning and managing services addressing disadvantaged people. With a relevant presence on regional context of Calabria, Promidea chose to base its activities on a key concept: LOCAL DEVELOPMENT means SOCIAL INCLUSION starting from the idea that full integration of people into local communities is an indispensable condition in development processes.

o we are Wh Promidea consists of 9 members, with a staff of about 200 experts (trainers, junior and senior consultants, employees). In order to ensure quality and effectiveness of implemented initiatives and activities, Promidea identifies its employees on the basis of specific skills, thus establishing lasting professional relationships over time and, above all, ensuring the availability of more updated figures.

o we are Wh Promidea is a training center regularly authorized by Regional authority of Calabria, also to deal with detainees in prisons. It is also enrolled in the national registry of associations working for immigrants and it is authorized to sue on behalf or in support of people exposed to discrimination. It has the quality certification according to UNI EN ISO 9001: 2000.

hat we do W Promidea is present at regional, national and European level with a wide series of projects and activities, granted by Calabria Region, Home office Department, Justice Department, Work and social affairs Department, European Commission. Refusing patterns just based on economic and social assistance, Promidea aims at promoting the protagonism of disadvantaged people, stimulating participation in vocational training, offering tutoring and coaching to encourage labour market inclusion, assuring technical assistence for starting up of new enterprises.

hat we do W Moreover, Promidea - manages social and health services; - organizes raising awareness activities on social inclusion themes, through communication campaigns, public events and informative materials; - promotes networks among social and institutional stakeholders, at regional, national and transnational level; - produces researches on available local services of social interest (for unemployed people, women, migrants, detainees and former prisoners, underage and young people).

hat we do W Social Inclusion It is the core activity of Promidea, whose target groups are, mainly people coming from a criminal experience (prisoners, former prisoners, beneficiaries of alternative measures to prison, etc. ) and foreign people (immigrants; asylum seekers, refugees and people receiving humanitarian protection, separated children, victims of trafficking). In both sectors Promidea experienced a system of integrated services ranging from identifying of marginalizing factors to defining suitable inclusive actions.

hat we do W Local Development This field of intervention is strictly complementary to that one of social inclusion, starting from the idea that local development is key factor in every social inclusion processes. Through an approach based on integration between economic and inclusive policies, Promidea promotes initiatives concerning local development, aiming at increasing employment opportunities, supporting and developing economic system (whit reference both to profit and non-profits actors); promoting economic and social growth of underdeveloped areas, improving life quality of local communities.

hat we do W Cooperation Drawing on the principles of Italian tradition of cooperative movement, Promidea works to set up and strengthening partnerships among public and private organizations dealing with development and social inclusion policies, also on an European level. Main objective of multi-actors cooperation is to join experiences, skills, resources, encouraging transferring, exchange and dissemination of good practices, in a long-term perspective of more effectiveness and sustainability of actions.

hat we do W Education Through training and tutoring, Promidea supports labour market inclusion of disadvantaged people, such as women, unemployed, graduates seeking their first jobs, etc. . Vocational training is one of the most important tools of active employment policies, so that Promidea offers to its targets groups opportunity to increase, improve or upgrade their skills, towards an easier job placement. Moreover, Promidea provides specific training courses for trainers, civil servants and traders, in order to share expertise, experiences, new perspectives.

hat we do W Social services of general interest Some examples of Regional and national activities (1): - Management of an aggregation Centre for children site in Reggio Calabria, aimed at providing a service specifically targeted at social inclusion of Roma children, children in the home of Romania, and lower Italian and foreign families interested - “OASI” project: implementation of measures designed to promote intercultural mediation and inclusion of immigrants (particularly children) in the social fabric, through the activation and management of a center for social gathering. - “Interlab” project: intercultural mediation service aimed at facilitating and improving access of immigrant to communities and the availability of public services through the figure of intercultural mediators, present in a stable manner in many public services related to health, education, work , social policy.

hat we do W Social services of general interest Some examples of Regional and national activities (2): - “Il Rifugio di Isaac” project: management of the Centre for secondary care for unaccompanied minors, asylum seekers and refugees, through a permanent service of intercultural mediation aimed at promoting social and work integration of the guests and the awareness of local people on the phenomenon of asylum. - Mapping of service needs, census of available resources and networking on the same in order to have a tool to be put at the base of the city's welfare system of Municipality of Crotone. - Management of several vocational training for prisoners, unemployed and disadvantaged people, workers in agricultural sector and in service sector, workers of social cooperatives, entrepreneurs. - Management of a training course for cultural mediators, in Municipality of Reggio Calabria.

hat we do W Social services of general interest Some examples of Regional and national activities (3): - “Alba chiara” project, co-funded by National department for rights and equal opportunities, aimed at preventing and fighting trafficking of immigrant women for sexual exploitation, trough delivering of social protection, psychological assistance, support in labor integration, training. - Study and analysis of economic and social development: Analysis of the labor market for immigrants with particular emphasis on the phenomenon of "care home" of female caregivers (in the District of Crotone). - "PR. I. DE”, project for inclusion of detainees, aimed at supporting social and professional inclusion of former prisoner and of beneficiaries of a reduction of sentence, through work experiences (and a monthly voucher).

hat we do W Social services of general interest Some examples of transnational activities: - “Learning Possibilities in the penal system“ project, funded by the European Commission through the European Programme for Lifelong Learning Grundtvig, for the exchange of experiences and best practices on rehabilitation of sentenced persons. - “OPTIMA” project, funded by Ministry of Labour and Social Affaires of Baden. Württemberg and aimed to increase the employability of female migrants (especially in services for families). - “Eurovalidation” project, carried on in the framework of Grundtvig program – learning partnership and aimed at creating a space of transnational activities on the issues of training and lifelong learning. - Equal "Meta“ project, which provided entertainment activities and awareness on issues of asylum seekers and refugees. - Equal “Star” Project: research on barriers to access to labor market for disadvantaged people, in particular for young foreign adults. - Equal "Agorà“ project: raising awareness and integration activities aimed at asylum seekers and refugees, including training courses and job placement in local companies.

for SSIG: Network f Promidea the role o Coherently with its possessed skills and specific experiences, and with the directions of the proposal, Promidea will provide a qualified staff to achieve the project objectives. The choice of Promidea to participate in the project is related to the interest of obtaining significant results in terms of: - Knowledge and sharing of tools, methodologies and procedures in the field of human services in European countries; - Enrichment of local know-how; - Research and sharing of good practices; - Development of transnational experiences of the participants.

for SSIG: Network f Promidea the role o Thus, the cooperative will offer its cooperation in all provided activities, as the following: - the participation in the working group and in the organization of study visits; - the evaluation of the effectiveness of the project and the dissemination; - the exchange of best practices and the verification of transferability to other contexts; - any other included activities, agreed between partners (in respect of the shared distribution).
