PROJECT ACTIVITIES IN KULAUTUVA BASIC SCHOOL 2016
A rest in ecology camp in Karklė On the 28 th of June a flock of Kulautuva forest lovers went to Karklė where the Young Forest Pals organised ecology camp. Students had a great time playing volleyball, competing for the first prize in indicative races and ‘brain battle. In the daytime pupils went to trips such as Ventė ornithological station. In the daytime Kulautuva‘s students visited Juodkrantė, climbed the Hill of Witches, went over burnt forests and Curonian Spit. Finally, the students went sightseeing to Nida, a small resort.
Educational chemists‘ trip On the 23 rd of September Kulautuva basic school team of young chemists‘ went to Kėdainiai chemistry factory ‘Lifosa‘. The senior engineer told the guests about the enterprise, went through shop-floors, mounted up the hill of industrial wastes by bus to admire vicinity spectacles.
The fifth formers want to know Lithuania The fifth and tenth formers visited his mother country and grave, the little barn of Antanas Baranauskas where famous poem ‘The forest of Anykščiai‘ was written. Anykščiai is full of wonderful sightseeing places, it‘s impossible to look everything around in a day. There are plenty of extraordinary sculptors‘, artists‘ works. We even wrote letters to ask for our dreams come true. A few days later we went cycling to Paštuva and crossed even 14 kilometres. Everybody were happy to meet the barefooted Carmelites’ sisters, to admire the new Paštuva church and at last to visit the grave of Jonas Vailokaitis signatory of Act of Lithuanian Independence. It’s great to travel, nice to associate, worth to know your country.
A successful performance in ‘The Golden Autumn’ contest On the 1 st of October Lithuanian aerobic gymnastic contest ‘The Golden autumn’ was held in Aleksandras Stulginskis University in Kaunas. More than 200 aerobic gymnastics representatives from Lithuania were hosted. Kaunas region Kulautuva basic school won even three medals in various aerobic gymnastic’s spheres.
National defence day On the 8 th of October 9 th-10 th formers and their teachers took part in event ‘National defence day‘. It was held in Mechanized Infantry Brigade ‘Iron Wolf‘ units which are sited in Rukla, Jonava region.
Porridge day On the 9 th of October first - fourth forms students took part in an educational action devoted to commemorate Worldwide Porridge day. Primary students started their day with morning exercises, afterwards pupils tasted oatmeal porridge. The enterprise gifted small books called ‘Porridge day‘ so children now know everything about the use of healthy breakfast and grains for the organism.
A successful performance in international festival-contest ‘Dances for everybody 2015‘ On the 24 th of October dancers of Kaunas region Kulautuva basic school modern dances‘ team ‘The movement‘ went to international festival-contest ‘Dances for everybody - 2015‘. Students‘ team earned medals for the dances‘ compositions ‘Miracles of Nature‘ and ‘Forget about everything‘.
‘A beautiful and meaningful action before All Saints‘ day The 5 th and 10 th formers of Kulautuva basic school held a social action and set out to Kulautuva‘s cemetary. Students wished to tidy unattended, derelict graves. Having arranged forgotten graves children lit candles on them and honoured those who passed away. Such actions turn everybody‘s attention to the surroundings, encourage cherishing national customs and traditions and strengthen friendly intercommunion.
Learning language and history while playing The most interesting and welcome lessons are those which are in untraditional surroundings. Although it was holiday time everybody were waiting for the trip to Vilnius and know more about their language and cultural heritage. Now students know how the language and script originated, they even became archeologists and had to find the oldest Indo-European mother–tongue words. Pretending real professionals everybody made letters’ impresses and was trying to make word puzzles. It was so exciting to discover the meaning and origin of their names, to look closer at the gestural language. Students were surprised about the beauty and richness of Lithuanian.
After having such a busy day our group of young travelers came back through Kernavė – the capital of pagan Lithuania which is whickered with legends and stories. We walked the paths that recall more than 10 thousand years history and were entranced with the beauty of hills and eager to search for the Bear in a dark sky. There were so many impressions but the most important thing it was really interesting to study and know.
A stay in Vilnius In the end of October a pile of 10 th and 11 th formers visited Vilnius – the capital of Lithuania. Russian teacher who organised the trip, wanted to encourage students spend one day especially remarkably and fraught with meaning. Students were glad being able to walk in the narrow streets of the old town drown in the dusk and admire the landmarks decorating the capital. This way the guests approached National Opera and ballet theatre where they wished to see the play of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky ‘Eugene Onegin’ Teenagers were fascinated with unfulfilled love story, the richness of Russian language and remarkably sophisticated artists. Everybody believes that evening they improved foreign language skills and gained long-term impressions.
Worldwide Aids day On the 2 nd of December worldwide fight against Aids day was held in Kulautuva basic school. The day of fighting against Aids is commemorated since 1988 all around the world. In 2015 the ministers of Health from all around the world was organized to refer the 1 st of December as day of fighting against Aids. Also there was decided to exchange the information related with this disease between worldwide medics. The 11 th graders organized a competition including the lecture for 7 th-10 th formers’ teams. The pupils had some fun and acquired plenty of new facts.
National Olympiad of Environmental Protection
Day of anticorruption On the 11 th of December Kulautuva basic school commemorated the day of anticorruption. The principal of Kaunas department anticorruption subdivision Daina Paštuolienė visited the event. STT officer presented the phenomenon of corruption, explained its harm, told about the commonest cases of corruption. The students acted in various situations, where different manifestations of corruption highlighted. The guest commented pupils’ acting. The officer was happy about students’ ingenuity, intelligence and friendly communication.
The action “Let’s warm the hearts” Advent is the great expectation of Christ and it invites everyone to pause, listen to oneself. Students’ council invited to join the action “Let’s warm the hearts’ and do kindness. The teenagers urged to buy ‘Caritas’ candles, the acquired funds were devoted for families growing many children. On the 15 th of December Students’ council and other Kulautuva basic school students went to Čekiškė nursing home. We rejoiced grandparents with Christmas carols, poems. It was a great pleasure to see their brightened faces. We also shared our good will with neighbours – Kulautuva children‘s hospital of tuberculosis. The little patients were in great happiness with our warm words and wonderful carols.
Students day in Vytautas Magnus university A group of 10 th and 11 th formers and their teacher Kolomba Bulotienė went to Vytautas Magnus university. The institution is vitally important source of culture and science in Lithuania and every year opens its doors for pupils. Besides this university is the only one suggesting studies based on artes liberales priciple. The model emphasizes a universal personality training, helps to reveal everyone‘s individuality and form young people‘s independant viewpoint. We were offered to familiarize with study programmes, university and career in various braches – we were having an extraordinary cheerful and significant day. Students heard foreign languages‘ primers, compelled informative lectures, experiments. interactive games, fair of faculties where students consulted passionately about the issues they are interested in.
Untraditional independence day Kulautuva basic school teachers wished to commemorate the day of restoration of an independent State of Lithuania. History teacher Mykolas Fedaravičius organised an action ‘For clean and beautiful Kulautuva‘ and invited school and town community to visit local historical monuments. The teams were gathered from local dwellers and checked their knowledge in Lithuania history, geography, Lithuanian and literature. Kulautuva citizens liked the idea to celebrate independence day differently. This kind of show is remarkable as it lets to become a member of history and creator.
Educational programme ‘Interesting chemistry‘ On the 18 of February 10 th formers and chemistry teacher Kolomba Bulotienė took part in educational programme ‘Interesting chemistry‘. Students participated various chemical tests: made artificial blood, golden liquid, identified liquids‘ ph and created polygraph. It was an interesting, unusual chemistry lesson in whichwe knew plenty of new things and checked the acquired ones.
