A private research university located in Princeton, New Jersey, United States It is one of the eight universities of the Ivy League, and one of the nine Colonial Colleges founded before the American Revolution Provides undergraduate and graduate instruction in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and engineering. HISTORY Chartered in 1746 as the College of New Jersey — the name by which it was known for 150 years — Princeton University was British North America's fourth college. Located in Elizabeth for one year and then in Newark for nine, the College of New Jersey moved to Princeton in 1756. It was housed in Nassau Hall, which was newly built on land donated by Nathaniel Fitz. Randolph. Nassau Hall contained the entire College for nearly half a century. In 1896, when expanded program offerings brought the College university status, the College of New Jersey was officially renamed Princeton University in honor of its host community of Princeton. Four years later, in 1900, the Graduate School was established.

ACADEMICS Wide variety of elective courses, and pursue departmental concentrations and interdisciplinary certificate programs. Students graduate with either the Bachelor of Arts (A. B. ) or the Bachelor of Science in engineering (B. S. E. ). Advanced degrees in humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and engineering. Doctoral education is available in all disciplines. Master's degree programs in architecture, engineering, finance, and public affairs and public policy.
STUDIES All students must complete a certain number of courses that allow them to get the universal knowledge and skills in: literature and the arts, history, sociology, epistemology and cognition, ethics and morality, science and technology. Students must also study a foreign language in the course of three or four semesters and listen to the seminar on writing skills. Humanitarian courses usually have two or three lectures and one of the seminars in a week. Courses at the faculties of science may have one or two laboratory session per week.
To finish the University, all students must write a thesis on the fourth year, and also one or two research work in the third yearm. Literary can choose creative diploma work, for example, write a novel, to stage a performance or design layout.
