PRESENTS THE PRODUCT ATTACHING SYSTEM
WHAT IS THE P. A. S. ? The Product Attaching System (PAS) is a turn-key high-speed card affixing unit that includes a Feed. MAX-S, Synchronized Card Feeder, Glue System and Collection Conveyor. It can be used as an in-line component or as a stand-alone system. Fully integrated system from carrier feeder to card feeder to glue head. It’s all controlled from a single touch screen. This unique feature alone sets us apart from al the rest.
ORIENTATION The Product Attaching System was designed to satisfy the needs of the Product Attaching System higher volume shops that demanded quality of the finished piece. The goal was to manufacture a machine that captured the wide open middle range of the market; the end result is a machine that is better than the existing high-end machines on the market but costs much less. We have three huge advantages. First, not one tool needs to be use to setup or change over a job. The second is that the touch screen is used to control most aspects of the PAS and an operator can be trained to use our Attacher in less than 30 minutes. We use electronics and a touch screen to accurately place cards on a carrier sheet instead of the most traditional way which uses archaic methods – cams, lugs and vacuum feed. Third, the speed and accuracy can’t be found anywhere else: 27, 000+ /hr @ 1/8” tolerance

COMPETITION? n Ga-Vehren Engineering – – – – Recently Purchased by Data. Card Most worthy competitor Fast & accurate but labor intensive Offer low end model, low end results All products have long change over, requiring experienced technician and tools Glue system is independent, not integrated |Often sold with complimenting products Expensive
COMPETITION? n Kirk-Rudy – Low end side of card affixing – Claim to have 1/8 tolerance, but didn’t account for skewing – 7, 000 hr – Set up intensive – Just released Servo Version of an Affixer, still have low production speeds and poor accuracy in card placement – Glue system is not integrated – Not a ‘feeder’ company
COMPETITION? n Streamfeeder – Converge (card) feeder not integrated – Glue system not integrated – Transport system not integrated – Missed the point of Turn-Key system – ¼ tolerance at best, despite claims – All components are independently operated

THE PRODUCT ATTACHING SYSTEM
VALUE ADD COMPONENTS Sure Feed and Thompson Direct partners with many other vendors to offer completely integrated turn-key packages. Camera verification, in-line printing, magnetic stripe reading, static affixing, label appliers, and others are all offered as a package through Sure Feed. Integration is done in house before the finished system is sent to the customer. The next pages will review the most requested of these value add components.
CAMERA VERIFICATION 2 or 3 way matching is often requested as a supplement to the Product Attaching System. Sure Feed offers camera systems from several different vendors and chooses the best system in accordance with the customer’s unique requirements. This automated solution offers a labor saving benefit as well as boosting the overall production speeds. The operator is made instantly aware of a mismatch or missing document and no longer needs to hand check the pieces. The versatile design of the equipment manufactured by Sure Feed allows the camera to be mounted in a wide range of areas to read top or bottom of the card or document.
CAMERA VERIFICATION Sure-Feed Engineering’s Product Attaching System provides quick return on investments by enabling card attaching and matching processes to be automated at speeds of 27, 000+ pieces per hour. Compared to conventional attaching equipment, the Product Attaching System provides a smaller footprint, simplified operation (one to two operators for attaching & matching system), accuracy (placement of +/-. 125”) and an accessible, open vacuum transport, which can be easily expanded to include an extra card feeder, ink jet printing, cameras, label appliers and product sorting. A Camera Verification System ensures personalized documents and cards match as they are being affixed The Windows based solution reads or scans a matching unique identifier off each card/mail piece component to ensure personalized components are merged together correctly. The Camera Verification provides a closed loop control to the P. A. S. when an error occurs. With a simple user-friendly interface, industry best decoding abilities, and a tight integration with the P. A. S. , the Camera System will eliminate the labor and liability risk associated with manual matching processes. There by sparing the end user the labor expense to manually check for the integrity of the pieces. Your typical application will consist of the Product Attaching System and an integrated Camera Verification System with two cameras, which can be used for matching a plastic card to its corresponding carrier document. The matching system includes a serial input tool to alternatively match a carrier document or cards to a serial input from a bar-code reader or magnetic stripe reader. The serial input tool provides a filter to parse the portion in which the user would like to match or check sequencing. The first camera would typically be installed to read the unique identifier (numeric characters, bar code or 2 -D) from the carrier document with the second camera reading the unique identifier from the plastic cards. The Camera Verification System will check these documents for proper matching and provide a discreet output to stop the attacher or trigger an alert light upon any miss-match. The system can record all camera reads with a date/time stamp in the systems exportable log file. The PAS is modular in design, so the Camera System can be added to the standard PAS unit at any time after the purchase. Most of the options and upgrades can also be added after the PAS is installed. Upgrading is simple and rarely requires factory installation.

QUESTIONS n How can my ‘low volume’ customer justify this expense? Sure Feed now offers a similar unit that is designed for low volume shops (AT 3). This unit has a smaller footprint and a lower speed rate (20, 000 / HR). A great answer to the KR 947. n What if I have a prospect that needs to tip on things besides cards? Sure-Feed will be launching a rotary pick and place unit in late 2007. This unit will be able to place most 3 dimensional item with speeds up to 27, 000/hr. n 27, 000 an Hour? What’s the average, really? As with any machine it varies, depending on the application. Most customers are averaging – PER SHIFT (8 hrs) 140, 000 pieces. That’s 18, 000 per hour, breaks, change over and down time included. Try seeing what the other companies affixing units average – 8, 000/hr (combined)
