THE DIALOGUE WITH MY GRANDMA. Me: Hi, Granny. Could you tell me about your school life? Granny: Hi, my dear! With great pleasure! What would you like to find out? M: Where was your school situated? G: It was in the country, far from the city. M: Tell me, please, how did you get to school? G: In summer I and my sisters went to school on foot through the woods, and in winter we had to get on a sledge through the snow M: Really? Was it difficult for you? G: Yes, it was. It was after war. There were not many pupils in our school. The school also was small and wooden. Tables and chairs were old. The windows were small and dim. But our classroom was always clean. M: Well. What about the behavior of pupils in your school ? G: We had one teacher. We loved her very much. We tried to listen to her attentively and not to be noisy. M: What subjects did you have in your school? G: We had Maths, Russian, Literature, History and Geography. We had 7 lessons every day. Our study was not easy, but it was very interesting and we had a good time at our school. M: And what did you do after school? Did you do your homework or go for a walk with your friends? G: I was a good student. After school I always did my homework. I had to help my parents around the house. I and my sisters had to work hard in the garden and in the field. I went for a walk only at the weekend. M: And did you have any school uniform? G: Of course, we did. I wore a black dress and a red tie. I liked to wear my school uniform very much. M: Wow. What about school lunches? You were fed at school? G: No, we weren’t. We took some food to eat during the break. It was uncomfortable but we had to do it. M: Granny, thanks for the interesting story. Your childhood was amazing!
