The Toy & its Uniqueness • Kondapalli toys or Kondapalli Bommalu is a Unique “ Light Weighted • A delightful expressions of art of rich traditional value made of the wood of “Tella Poniki” also called white sander, found in the forests and hills adjoining Kondapalli village located about 20 km from Vijayawada in Krishna district of the state of Andhra Pradesh © Confederation of Indian Industry

Drying • Log Size : 10, 8, 6 ft & so on. • Allowed to dry in Sunlight for One Month • Wood becomes light weighted after losing water © Confederation of Indian Industry
Cutting & Carving • Small Size of 6 inches and so on depending on the Toy to be made. • The wood is then processed and carved in to the desired shape and size. BAHUDARA is a very important toll used in carving the toys © Confederation of Indian Industry
Assembly of Parts & Drying • A mixture of Tamarind & Saw Dust is used to fill up parts & adhesives are used to join parts • It is dried in sunlight for Couple of Days to set © Confederation of Indian Industry
Finishing & Pest Control • Filings are done to give a smooth finished look • Toys are dipped in Organic Solvents/ Gammaxine to make it pest resistant © Confederation of Indian Industry
Pre Coating & Colouring • Vegetable and Synthetic colors are used and themes chosen are mostly rural life, mythological figures and animals and birds © Confederation of Indian Industry

QC Checks • The artisans undertake the following quality Inspection mechanism during the entire process of making the toys: • Checking of the tree used for cutting should reach a minimum of 10 – 15 ft. in height and 2 -3 feet of bark diameter. • Quality of the wood after drying in the sunlight for one month to ensure that the wood looses sufficient moisture for to enable artistic carving of wood. • Ensuring proper drying of the toys from time to time at various stages during the process of making. The time taken may vary from 8 hrs – 24 hrs, based on the weather conditions • Overall size, shape and presentation of the toys © Confederation of Indian Industry
