PRESENTATION ON : “CAMBRIAN COLLEGE”
Cambrian College is a college of applied arts and technology in Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. Established in 1967, and funded by the province of Ontario, Cambrian has campuses in Sudbury, Espanola and Little Current. Cambrian works in partnership with school boards, training institutes, universities, and other institutions - locally, nationally and internationally - in order to provide additional educational opportunities and to share expertise and resources. Cambrian’s commitment to its many communities is evidenced by the Wabnode Institute, the college’s centre for the advancement of First Nations education, and by its status as a leader in meeting the needs of persons with disabilities.

HISTORY Cambrian College was founded as a trade school in 1967 , during the formation of Ontario's college system. It was originally established with campuses in Sudbury, North Bay and Sault Ste. Marie; the North Bay and Sault campuses became the independent Canadore College and Sault College in 1972 and 1973 , respectively. Until 1995 , Cambrian was a bilingual institution, offering courses in both English and French. In that year, the francophone programs were transferred to the new Collège Boréal.
STUDENT POPULATION AND PROGRAMS The largest college in Northern Ontario, Cambrian College has over 4, 400 full-time students and close to 90 full-time programs, a number of which are uniquely suited to the academic and employment aspirations of First Nations people. An additional 9, 000 registrations are taken annually for part-time personal, professional and human resources development courses, workshops and seminars. STUDENT ASSOCIATIONS Cambrian is also home to 3 particular student government associations; SAC (Students Administrative Council), CNSA (Cambrian Native Students Association) and the CAA (Cambrian Athletics Association). All three provide essential services to students, although SAC represents every student on campus and provides specific services regarding students and student life. These services range from basic student services like faxing and mailing duties; to the executive council members of SAC dealing with academic appeals, clubs and associations duties, college-wide changes, leadership and other concerns. ATHLETICS CENTRE The Cambrian Athletics Centre strives to meet your fitness, recreational, and health-related professional development needs. Our offerings include individual fitness assessments by qualified personnel, team and individual sport opportunities, and health and fitness-related courses.
The Centre features: 6000 square foot, modern weight training facilities 3 International squash courts Double Gymnasium Cardio room (Dual action cross trainers, treadmills, upright/recumbent bikes, stair climbers) Functional Training Room Gallery exercise/stretching area Saunas Personal training, individualized fitness programs, fitness evaluations PARE (RCMP), PREP (Police), PET (Paramedics), COPAT (corrections) fitness testings.
