History • Los Angeles was founded on September 4, 1781, by Spanish governor Felipe de Neve. • Los Angeles was incorporated as a municipality on April 4, 1850, five months before California achieved statehood.
Geology • Los Angeles is subject to earthquakes due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire. • One of the major faults is the San Andreas Fault.
