Objective At the end of this module the student will identify the prepositions of place and how to use them correctly in sentences.

Definition A preposition is a word that connects a noun, pronoun or gerund to other words. Prepositions are words that specify place, direction, and time.

PREPOSITIONS Prepositions are words that express the relation of a noun or pronoun to another word in the sentence. PREPOSITION NOUN Example: We drove our car to the store.

PREPOSITIONS • They show the relationship among things, people, and places. • Examples: Maria is in the classroom. Maria is next to Joe. Maria is at the park.

How to use prepositions? Prepositions usually come before the noun. PREPOSITION NOUN Example: Maria is in the bus.

Prepositions can be used with all forms of nouns PREPOSITION NOUN Examples: We sat on the bench. They are at the party. He came down the hill.

What are prepositions of place? Prepositions of place are prepositions that are used to describe the place or position of all types of nouns. PREPOSITION NOUN Example: The books are on the chair.
