PRAYER (PT. 2) CONFLICTS- don’t get resolved because we talk to everyone else except for the person with whom we have the conflict (Matt. 18: 15). PRAYERS- never get answered because we talk to everyone else about our problems except for God.

PRAYER (PT. 2) ISAIAH 38: 1 -5 1. ) King Hezekiah: one of the more successful kings of Israel. a. )Removed the worship of foreign deities from the temple in Jerusalem. b. )Restored the worship of Yahweh, the God of Israel in the temple of Jerusalem. c. )VS. 1 Hezekiah’s sick unto death. -It’s possible to be successful & sick at the same time.

PRAYER (PT. 2) ISAIAH 38: 1 -5 4. )VS. 2 King Hezekiah responds to his bad report by turning his face to the wall and praying to God. a. )In turning his face to the wall, Hezekiah turned to God. b. )It is impossible to turn to God without turning one’s back to the world (2 Chronicles 7: 14). c. )Motives are not the only thing that matters when we pray; HOW WE LIVE MATTERS when we pray.

PRAYER (PT. 2) ISAIAH 38: 1 -5 6. )VS. 4 -5 As a result of Hezekiah pleading his own case to God, God sends the prophet back to Hezekiah and adds 15 more years to Hezekiah’s life. a. )God speaks through his “written Word” (2 Tim. 3: 16) & through his “spoken Word” (1 Cor. 12: 10/ gift of prophecy). b. )Prophecy is a divinely inspired spoken message declaring the purposes of God. c. )The written Word never changes; when one has a relationship with God through prayer, GOD WILL CHANGE HIS SPOKEN WORD.
PRAYER (PT. 2) LAST WORD vs. FINAL WORD Last Word: often times is the last negative word one has heard from the mouth of man that is contrary to the Final Word that God gave in the beginning of time. Final Word: God’s written Word that he gave in the beginning long before our existence. What will you believe: the last word or the final word?
