Q 10 – FINAL REMARKS Some details of the local organization, e. g. bus Q 10 – FINAL REMARKS Some details of the local organization, e. g. bus transport to the official dinner, were somewhat chaotic Traveling back and forth between hotel and congress center by taxi was a nightmare. Taxidrivers didn't speak english and didn't know where the congress center was. Even showing them on a map didn't help. I guess the food in the meeting was very good, however, it was not for the workshops and in the meetings I attended during the meeting, eg no food at all the Ad board meeting. I was starving there was no transport for the pre-days and taxis couldn't find the right building. The meet and assist service at the airport was terrible. Please make sure that the conference building in future is accessible to disabled (can gain access without flights of steps etc). ICS should not charge a standard registration fee for all. they should have different fee structure for people who are not doctors. as we do not benefit 100%. fee structure for physios, nurses, allied health professionals must be different from doctors. this will encourage more foriegners to attend and will help us to keep the cost low, which will enable to get sponsorships from hospitals & other sources as drug & product companies do not favour us as much as doctors as we do not prescribe drugs or products as doctors. Transport to and from the venue was inadequate. There were only 2 buses a day and the alternative was a taxi-booking service on site which was expensive and unprofessional. It would have been preferable to have more transport provided e. g. at lunchtime less gynecological topics in the future please The food provided for the initial workshops on Monday and Tuesday was hardly adequate. One of the scientific state of the art presentations was poor (Chinese Medicine) Congratulations for a wonderful job! Good conference, good venue. Looking forward to San Francisco.

Toilets at meeting venue were not clean. Transport options from hotels to conference Toilets at meeting venue were not clean. Transport options from hotels to conference venue were limited and venue staff gave no assistance for organising taxis Given the unreliability / safety of Cairo public bus transport, one was left to negotiate taxi transport to and from one's hotel if one didn't wish to use the twice daily bus service on offer. On one of my three taxi rides during the week I feared for my safety - accredited taxi / limousine or mini bus services would have been helpful in this country. Conference dinner was unforgettable. The venue was very difficult to get to from any hotel and it was very difficult to commute between the meeting venue and hotels due to the chaotic traffic and isolation of the venue. A more practical site would have made the meeting easier to attend also meet with colleagues when needed The scientific content of some of the presentations was not particularly good. ICS meeting lack any for of theme or narrative, including recent Cairo ICS. Transfers from airport to hotel and hotel to venue were non-existent. At future ICS meeting the number of presented abstracts should be doubled with concurrent/parallel sessions throughout the meeting. The traffic of Cairo was too much The ICS should have organized much more opportunities to go on buses back and forth to the hotels, you put your life at risk every day. ICS should also have provided buses for the social events. Too much basic science and too little of consevative treatment stategies Difficult to hold first world meeting in third world country, but the toilets needed to be better and the constant pressure for tipping was a major negative for me, from the toilet boy to the guard i asked directions for outside the conferece centre It was a gamble to locate an ICS meeting in Cairo, and the gamble paid off. We should encourage meetings in developing countries. Special congratulations to Werner Schaefer for running the best AGM in a long time. Cairo is not an easy city to get around, so not easy to sight see, or get to venue. Conference therefore not relaxing as one couldn't come and go readily Some presentations were very weak. Some state-of-the-art lectures were too lenghty & boring. The venue place were dirty and water and toiletpaper was often missing in the bathrooms. I cannot recommend the place for future meetings. It didn't live up to international standards.

I enjoyed the conference, especially workshops, well done. Gala dinner was very disorganised, I enjoyed the conference, especially workshops, well done. Gala dinner was very disorganised, such a shame as a fantastic venue. Unfortunatly most people waited 1 1/2 hrs to get a glass of wine in their hands! In the workshop on mixed urinary incontinence there were no handouts, I do not think this is acceptable for an educational workshop. Some of the meeitng site staff could have been more approachable and helpful - generally most were. Also getting to and from the conference venue was not always easy if you missed the coaches, and taxi's were expensive. the travel agency, Aton was not a good choice! This was the worst ICS of the 10 I have attended. Site was totally unacceptable to me and would never return. There must be a reasonable way to get from hotels to venue, preferably by walking. If transportation in Beijing will not be better than this I will not attend the meeting. We are here for business. Major meeting hotels must offer Internet at some reasonable rate. AV for workshops was terrible. There were no lunch tickets for speakers. In the future, ICS meetings should not be held in buildings where people can smoke or have smoked in the past. Workers were smoking everywhere at this venue and the meetings rooms reeked of old smoke. Also, all meetings in the future should have the most up-to-date version of Powerpoint. Having the old version forced many presenters to correct their presentations at the last minute. mostly I enjoyed the workshops-good discussion and experience exchanging opportunity Do not need CME points I would be happy if there was more emphasis on basic science topics and a forum for dealing with 'difficult' or 'challenging cases' The Travel company (Aton Travel)hired by Kenes behaved in a most unprofessional, dishonest and disconcerning fashion. This left attendees who used any of there services with a very negative impression of the organizers of the meeting, and their memories of the Cairo meeting. . it was great i was not particularly happy with the fairness of selection criteria for papers accepted for presentation; I feel a significant amount of bias was involved. a great majority of papers accepted for podium or moderated poster presentations were not of high quality and many were at par or worse in quality with those selected for unmod. or read by title categories. I strongly feel that un-moderated posters and especially 'read by title' types of acceptance of papers are irrelevant; these get no recognition & are not even abstracted in the abs book (available on the net and in the CD is insufficient). it is rather better to have parellel sessions and either let these be presented or boldly be rejected.

not a good place for a high level scientific congress and city not not a good place for a high level scientific congress and city not easy to use for a congressman really working transportation to and from meeting venue was inadequate - needs to be more options to get to and from venue apart from just 1 bus in am and 1 bus in pm. also there were inadequate directions posted at the venue itself - taxi dropped us off at one location which they said was main entrance and we then found out we had to go in on other side of venue. yet there were no signs indicating this. Buses from hotels to venue must run at least hourly - not once/day or get some "official taxis" that charge a set fare. The basic science abstracts that were selected were weak. Make sure the restrooms at the venue have paper towels instead of toilet paper. COnference centre too far from hotels/city centre. Security seemed high and I felt intimidated by that. The service of the travel agent was horrible (Aton travel) Again, I would strongly encourage that the transportation made available to/from hotels be made available throughout the day and not just before and after the conference. Finding transportation on my own by standing out on the street alone was hardly the safest route to go. large number of extremely short presentation which were difficult to follow sometimes. A presentation of 10 15 minute is probably more beneficial Transport to and from the hotels was a disaster! It was not offered frequently enough, and taxis were nonexistent. The price of the cars available was exorbitant!! The plumbing at the venue left a great deal to be desired, as it flooded fairly frequently. The air conditioning was freezing, which was totally unnecessary. Having said all that, I thoroughly enjoyed the meeting, and Cairo was wonderful. Full marks for choosing a slightly unusual venue! The location was very difficult. Most hotels were too far to walk making it a challenge to get to the meeting. The quality of the oral presentations was not as good as previous years. There were many non discussion posters that were of higher quality, better science and more relevant to ICS than what was presented orally. Not sure how the papers are chosen, but there should be a more stringent abstract review process to improve the quality of data presented. There were abstracts that receieved prize awards at other meetings that were only presented as non discussion posters. I found Cairo a very disappointing venue I enjoyed the tours very much; the small number of attendees on each tour enabled us to get to know one another and do some networking. Very good conference!

The ICS recommended tour agency (Aton Travels) was atrocious in time management and The ICS recommended tour agency (Aton Travels) was atrocious in time management and on-time rates. This is not only my experience, everyone on the several tour groups i took all had the same experiences. I travel much, and was born in a third world country, therefore I understand how this works and usually NOT so uncharitable in my feelings. However, this was a medical conference where most of us expect very precisely timed schedules, especially we need to also be on time for conference lectures and activities. There was no final itinerary sent to me with pickup times. I had to call multiple times once in Cairo to find someone who can tell me where to wait and at what time. The choice of my tours were switched around without giving me notice. . etc. I suppose we are there to see the antiquities, without them, there is no reason to go to Egypt. I have allready sent some words on this issue to the general secretary The infrastructure of the conference venue was a complete mess. The shuttle service was inefficient, taxis were not allowed to reach the center, there were no signs at all to find the correct hall and entrance. When I came there first for the registration, it took me half an hour to find the entrance, and along with me a lot of guests from several countries. Nobody of the local people there knew anything about the ICS meeting at all! Communications with Kenes about payment prior to the meeting were poor. They were slow to respond to emails and claimed I had not told them about credit card number changes when I had fax proof that I had. No apology was forthcoming. One remark. Evidence Based Medicine is to my opinion important, and therefore should be one of the major aspect of the ICS meetings. The first State-of-the-art (traditional Chinese medicine) was terrible!! In stead of presenting evidence based medicine, I got the feeling that the ICS was going back to the stone age. . the 'service' for presenters and chairpersons of the workshops and educational courses (doing all the work for free) deserves attention Please, residents in training need some financial facilities to attend these great conferences. Signage at the venue was inadequate. Hotel experience was very poor. Transfers were not always well organized and alternative transportation (from the congress centre) was not always easily obtained. The toilet facilities were not at all well maintained. I felt that the venue staff should not have been standing in line to eat with the participants and should not have been taking up the few spots there were to put your plate down while they stood there and smoked. It was to be a non smoking venue I thought and there were people smoking all over the place. That was distressing. The airport transfer was very much a waste of money as all they did was pick the luggage off the belt and take you through the door to a van. Also my daughter was not met at the airport as had been arranged so that ended up being stressful. Happily there was no issue with a refund.

Venue away from city in respect to popping out. Bus services restrictive Buses Venue away from city in respect to popping out. Bus services restrictive Buses leaving from the Convention Centre were always 45 mins to 1 hour late leaving in the afternoons. In the end it was quicker to use the local taxis. 1. none of the hotel staff knew what was going on - that ICS meeting was held in CICC. 2. the taxi derivers didn't know where CICC was and only knew the arabic version of it despite clear signages on the roads. 3. the toilets in CICC were atrocious! 4. the prayer room for Muslims were make-shift corner. More effort should be invested to ensure comfort to the delegates It would have been good not to have salad on the sandwiches in a country like Egypt. . . There was room for improvement with the toilets at the covention center. . . The Gala Dinner was a true highlight, the Egyptian overall did a great job. The trip afterwards on the Nile was wonderful. Great the price for PT's was reduced. Many of Chairmen and Moderators of the scientific sessions are not members of ICS and not even interested in the ICS or urodynamics. Moreover, some of them did not show. difficult & expensive when hotel not near conference centre & no provided transport for the physio & workshop days Poor work from Keenes Travel. Multiple request was not answerd and it was several mistake made. I actually received 2 copies of the abstracts - one prior to meeting as I am ICS member and one at meeting, which I abandoned in Cairo as I do not need 2! Sadly, despite this being an excellent meeting in terms of conference content and organisation, the venue was disappointing. It was difficult to locate (even for local taxi travers it seemed) and was not close enough to nearby hotels (thereby incurring further travel costs and travel time). The social opportunities after the conference sessions to unwind and chat with colleagues were also rather limited, with there being few venues to attend for dinner/difficulty travelling around the city. Therefore, overall a great conference but a disappointing venue. The opportunity to meet local nurses at the nurses meeting was exceptionally valuable. Also meeting doctors and nurses with underfunded services who have massive unmet patient needs, but can teach us so much about patient care. I found the distance between the conference and the hotel a little frustrating. I wondered if a smaller but equally interesting city for example Luxor might have made a better venue. I was mostly very satisfied with how the meeting was run. My tiny complaints were toilet facilities seemed unable to cope with such large numbers. Some presentations were lost and I felt very sorry for the people unable to present their hard work. The Egyptian hospitality was great at all times, and so was the food.

Became ill on second day of conference - diarrhoea lasted for 5 weeks!!! Became ill on second day of conference - diarrhoea lasted for 5 weeks!!! My GP said I should have had Hep A and Typhoid injections before travelling to Egypt- maybe this should have been said in the info that was sent out. thank you * More shuttle buses throughout the day. For example during lunch time. Some days only the morning or afternoon program was interesting. * Only minimal opportunity to buy food and drinks outside lunch and coffee break time. Food was inadequate at the conference. I had requested pork and beef free and was offered only fish and salads. There was not much of other seafood and lamb. More beef than othe meats was served. Welcome dinner the catering was poor. Should have had somebody to organise the queues. More soft drinks for people who do not consume alcohol. Better arrangements for ablution facilities. Workshops were excellent. Ver beneficial. Great networking. Conference overall was pretty good and excellent venues. Hope there could be a conference in the South of Africa in the very near future as well as Asia. I thought that you had better use regular power point. When I checked in, I eoncounterd strange Arabian error messages. On the podium session, I could not hear clearly on the stage. You should put an speaker on the table. Non-fluent English speakers should have fluent companion/colleague to facilitate discussion. Slides/presentations should conform to ICS standard regarding amount of detail on each slide. I believe ICS guidelines issued to presenters specify this - should be emphasised again. Even more poster presentations may facilitate communication, especially for those with poor spoken English. Ideally, conference venue and hotels should be closer, when possible, failing that, increase frequency of shuttle service. The airport limosine service that was recommended and had taken our bookings at the conference centre was unreliable. I was picked up very late and only after I had an argument with them. They did not pick up any of my colleagues who had left the following day despite the booking already paid for.
