A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away N city. . .

The Warsaw Polytechnical Institute was based in 1898. The outstanding scientist in the field of crystallography, the doctor of mineralogy, Alexander Evgenevich Lagorio became the first director of the Warsaw Polytechnical Institute. At the moment of opening University had three branches: mechanical, chemical and construction to which in 1903 the fourth was added — mountain.

The First World War which began in 1914 and approach of German armies to Warsaw have forced the Russian government to evacuate the Warsaw Polytechnical Institute to Moscow. The Warsaw Polytechnical Institute moves to Nizhny Novgorod, where since October 1916 classes in time premises begin. Since 1918 up to 1930 the faculties of the Institute were a constituent part of Nizhny Novgorod State University.

In 1930 two engineering faculties of Nizhny Novgorod State University formed the basis of two Institutes: mechanical technological and chemical technological. In 1934 they became the faculties of Gorky Industrial Institute. The Industrial Institute was renamed the Polytechnic in 1950. On the 24 th of December 1992 Nizhny Novgorod Polytechnic Institute got the status of the State Technical University named after R. E. Alexeev. K. N. Tiehkov was elected a first Rector of NSTU.

Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University provides training of the engineers in 34 specialties for plants, design offices and research institutes in the fields of electronics, radio engineering, electrical engineering, ship building, machine building, automobile building, chemistry, physics and many others.

Nizhny Novgorod is well known in Russia as "the city of machine builders, as the city of engineers".

The faculty of Mechanical engineering, later it was renamed "the faculty of automation and mechanization" (FAM), contributed its important part into the image of our city it has trained thousands of specialists: engineers in machine building, research engineers, scientific and pedagogical workers of the highest qualification. In 1930 this faculty together with the faculty of Chemical engineering formed the basis for establishing Technical University of the present day.

“Nowadays the faculty is reorganized into the Institute of industrial and machine building technologies" and is a constituent part of the Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University.

The faculty actively cooperates with domestic plants and enterprises (JS. C. "GAZ", J. S. C. "Sokol", J. S. C. "Gidromash", in the sphere of trading high qualified specialists, so is closely connected with foreign partness. Very friendly relations are set with Higher School of Aachen (Germany). Due to cooperation program, students, post graduates and teaches of the faculty visited manufacturing companies and universities of Sweden and Italy. At the faculty there all facilities to carry out scientific work. The students have good opportunities to deepen their knowledge in foreign languages, attending advanced courses of foreign languages. Those students, who have a good command of foreign language, take part in programs of international exchange.

The faculty processes one of the largest computer centre, fitted out with modern equipment and the students receive fundamental computer training in the field of CAD CAM CAE technologies. The students of the faculty have a good possibility to study not only technical sciences, but to get good knowledge in economics and management.

The years passed. Institute of Industrial Technology Engineering grew and developed. But in 2007 the Polytechnic over the clouds gathered. . . Immediately 40 wonderful people from different cities and regions of our great power, were enrolled in this department, specialty, "Design of technical and technological systems"

Engineers of this speciality correspond to conditions of a modern economic situation in the country. Enterprises and product companies require experts of universal profile with knowledge of technology of mechanical engineering, welding, processing by pressure and assemblages of products are required.

During our education we have received and we receive knowledge in the area of technological processes and equipment, computer technologies, business economics, jurisprudence, management and marketing.

And also we receive knowledge in theory and technology of forming metals and polymeric compositions, receive preparation in area of computer technologies, organization and economics of manufacture, marketing, management.

The first day when we came to the university it was the 2 of September and we could not imagine what will happen with us. We knew many new interesting things, met many different people. There were about 100 students and 6 groups in our stream. Of course, the first two months we had got used to university, professors and each other. Since the second term we had become friends and our students life began. We were studying, but we loved to be engaged in different extracurricular activities. For example University sporting events, competition "the best team, " first year student days.

From session to session, students live happily. The first 3 years ran imperceptibly On the 4 th term we got a bachelor's degree diploma. after that we decided to go to magistracy. Certainly, it was sad to leave our groups, in which we were studing and communicating for 4 years. From 2 groups PK 1 and PK 2 students were selected, and they had become masters. And now they are M 11 PK. It is the group which includes a lot of unordinary interesting people, which have succeed in study. The most of us have already worked, somebody work according our speciality. We are very different, but we are united by the Technical University. In 1, 5 years we will get our diploma and go to different ways, seldom we will meet and remind our group and our student’s life.

We entered to Technical University in 2007. Our choice was random. But fortunately, we met here many friends. Not all students of our group live in N. N. They went here to enter to Technical University. Our group is friendly and open minded. We are 14 students. We are very hard working, smart and success oriented people. There are 3 men in our group. It is little, but girls are very proud of them.

We like to go into the dining room together. We spend this time with fun))) We always help each other. We like to study and so we get some money for that. It is very good. Graduates of different schools come to our faculty’s open day to know what we learn and after they decide that they want to study here)

We certainly become diplomaed experts, we will come to work and we will build our future. We don’t have illusions that employers will fight for us. The most important thing, which we learn on our faculty, is an ability to study great volume of material ourselves and a possibility to get social skills of communication. Besides, in our University it is possible to meet people who for some years of study become close and native to you.
